Show Hvidsotv's Market Letter. Salt Lake City, Sept. 4, 1902. Our mining share market during the past week ha- been very active and prices have been well niclntained; many of the stocks have advanced anl conditions seem to be greatly improved in the last two months. We are expecting an active marine mar-ine during the fall and winter, and feel that our stocks generally are too low and should be bought at present quotations. The following are the shipments from the Park City and Tintic districts: From Tintic Uncle Sam, 5 cars; Yankee Con., 6 cars; Eagle & Blue Bell, 5 cars; Bullion-Beck, 6 cars; Gemini, 10 cars; Carisa, 5 cars; Star Con., 3 cars; Mammoth, 8 cars; Grand Central, 7 cars; Lower Mammoth, 2 cars; Sioux-Utah, 1 car; Martha Washington, 1 car. I From Park City Daly West, 3,341,150 pounds; Ontario, 1,132,310 pounds; Anchor, 211,660 pounds; Silver King, 1,500,000. Ihe Mercur company during the month has been making some necessary repairs to their mill, buc their output has been about the same as the previous month. Con. Mercur has been selling at from $2.03 to' $2.07. The regular dividend of 3 cents will be declared this month. As soon as the market has absorbed the stock that is being offered, by reason ' of parties taking profit, we will expect the stock to gradually advance to ?2.60 or $3 a share. Work at the Daly is going on very nicely. The stock advanced as high as $2.20 on the report of. a strike at the mine, but lacking confirmation has declined to $2.02. Daly West has advanced to $51.75 bid, $52.25 asked, today. The regular dividend will probably be declared tomorrow. The Eagle & Blue Bell is' firm at from ?1.13 to $1.17. It is quite likely that; thib property will be bought by the parties who I have the option. We understand that the expert's ex-pert's examination has been quite favorable. It' is one of the best located mines in the Tintic district. dis-trict. A strike is reported in the Grand Central, and it is said that the condition of the property never was better. The temporary injunction which was sought by the Mammoth to restrain the Grand Central from taking out ore has been decided against the Mammoth. The Grand Central ad- vanced as high as $6.20, but today is a little weaKcr, closing with $6 bid, offered at $6.10 H The Ingot remains firm at from 8 to 9J cents.; A strike is reported in the lower levels of the Lower Mammoth and the stock has been quite firm and active from 82 to 87 cents. H Rich ore has been uncovered by the Mammoth H company, and the stock, which declined during-B during-B the week as low as $1.30, on account of the de-H de-H cision against the company of the temporary in-, junction of the Grand Central, has now advanced, and is selling at from $1.46 to $1.48. H May Day is firm at from 22 to 23 cents. On-. tario is selling at about $9. The books of the com-H com-H pany will close on the 30-cent quarterly dividend H on the 5th inst. As a dividend-paying investment H we recommend the purchase of Ontario Btock. H They have a large surplus and are making regular shipments and paying regular dividends. Petro is firm at from 10 to 10i cents. Sacra-. mento is selling at from 271 to 29 cents. A per-i son will not make a mistake in having a few, shares of Sacramento stock laid away, as one of mm thfbe days they will resume dividends, and then; it will be selling at very much higher figures. H Swansea and South Swansea are not shipping vers much ore, and for that reason the stock of' bo'h companies is very low. Swansea is selling at About $1.10 a share and South Swansea Is sell-' tofe at from 27J to 30 cents. The Uncle Sam is H sell ng at from 29 to 30 cents. The management' H ieeis confident that with a mill on the property H it ,'iu be a paying proposition, and the stock at J H thi price is very low. 'tah is selling at from 56 to 57 cents. Valeo H f Park City has not advanced very much; the' Btok is selling at from 14 to 18 cents. It is our M miression that this stock within a month will' j be onsiderably higher. Ben Butler is making good shipments of ore.' K Se. n cars are on tne market at present. j H strike has been reported in the California- Property at Park City, and it is said that a good' H breist of ore has been found in their intermediate' H tunnel. The repairs at the mill have been com-j B Pletfd, and it has been started up. They are treat- ne about forty to fifty tons a day. The superin tendent's confident that he can easily keep the mill supplied, and it Is likely that the capacity of the mill will bo increased. The 6-cent assessment will be due on the 6th of the month. The Century has been gradually advancing, selling as high as $1.15, but closing today with about $1.12 bid, offered at $1.13. They are sending down a gold brick each week. The indebtedness of the company, we understand, is between twelve and fifteen thousand dollars. It will not take them a great while to pay this off with their present output. There is something doing on Dalton of Marys-ville. Marys-ville. The stock is changing hands at about 4 cents a share. As a speculative stock this price is too low. Martha Washington is making shipments of sevoral cars of ore, and has two cars at the mine ready for shipment. The grade of this ore is improving im-proving and they are opening up additional ore bodies each day. Victor is strong, selling today as high as 24 cents Yankee has been declining, selling as low as 49 cents. Today, however, it is firm at from 54 to 55 cents. A change has taken place in the management man-agement of the company and it is said that parties par-ties who were let out have been compelled to sell their stock. This has brought the price down, but as soon as this stock is taken off the market there is no question but what the shares will advance. The annual report shows that they have only $12,000 cash on hand, with the proceeds of six cars to come in. The Daly-Judge stock has been gradually advancing, ad-vancing, and sold today at $11.70, closing with $11.65 bid, offered at $11.75. Orders are coming In for this stock from the East, and parties here feel that this stock Is going to be a good dividend-paying dividend-paying investment within the next six months. On the strength of a report of a strike in the Wabash the stock advanced very rapidly a week ago to $3.25. Since that time, and Inasmuch as they have uncovered a body of ore In the mine, the stock has declined as low as $2.35, but today has been selling as high as $2.70. The Comstock has uncovered sufficient ore to justify them in the erection of a mill, and its construction con-struction has been commenced. The insiders have been gradually buying this stock for some time, but they have not been permitting it to advance. Today there was $1.31 bid, $1.32J asked. Majestic Mining company stock has been selling sell-ing at from $3 to $3.20, but today it Is $2.95 bid, offered at $3.10. This company has a very large amount of high-grade copper ore at their mine, and a smelter is being erected to treat it. All who visit the mine return with glowing accounts of the property and seem to think that it is going to be one of the greatest copper-producing properties prop-erties in this State, and perhaps in the West. Several new companies are being organized to develop claims in the Park City district A new corporation was formed yesterday called the New York Mining and Milling company. They are offering of-fering their treasury stock at 30 cents a share. This money will be used for the development of the property. Work has been pushed on the Bonanza Con. property, and some ore has appe&red in their tunnel. tun-nel. This stock is selling at 50 cents a share, and the company owns fourteen claims. Capital is needed by many companies to assist in developing develop-ing mining claims in various parts of the State, and most favorable terms of interest can be acquired ac-quired by those who have sufficient confidence to join the owners of properties to assist in developing develop-ing them. We are in a position to place money in such enterprises on most liberal terms. We will take pleasure In answering any inquiries in-quiries with reference to mining stocks, and will furnish maps and quotations upon application. Yours very truly, HUDSON SONS COMPANY. |
