Show Some seventeen or eighteen years ago at the annual an-nual spring conference, the presidents of the different dif-ferent stakes were called to a meeting of the apostles and first presidency, and when assembled assem-bled the late Hon. George Q. Cannon, addressing by name three or four presidents of stakes of Southern counties, said "Smith and Jones and Rogers and Thompson of your respective stakes, who were in the Legislature last winter, showed a disposition not to obey counsel. See tha they are never again sent to the Legislature." And they never were. We mention the matter to show how matters have improved since those troublous days. The last Legislature was entirely obedient. |
