Show THE ROTTEN CAR SERVICE. Lack of proper service ana a sufficient number of street cars to meet the demands of the traveling travel-ing public on tho car line to Calder's park was the cause of a distressing accident on Monday evening. even-ing. t)ving to tho overcrowded condition of the car leaVi .iv the park during Uie rvonirg, Mrs. Mary Morris, one of the passengers, was compelled to stand on the front platform and, on turning the corneof Third South and Seventh East streets. tile unfortunate womsin was thrown violently from the platform, sustaining a compound fracture of the lelt anklo. The injuied limb was set by Dr. Philo E. Jones and afterwards the lady was taken to Holy Cross hospital. The parsimonious methods of the street car company, as well as its lack of observance of the ordinary rules of attention to the welfare of its patrons are causing widespread and unfavorable comment by outsiders, as well as citizens of Salt Lake. Filthy language, obscene and vulgar actions ac-tions and general rowdyism are the rule rather than the exception on all late cars from the various vari-ous resorts around the city, and the service is becoming be-coming so rotten that scores of Salt Lake's best people have ceased attending any of the parks' gatherings, and the class of night patrons to such resorts include for the most part only the tough, hoodlum element of Salt Lake. |
