Show New Travel Map For Dixie National Forest According to a news release from the Cedar City Office of the Dixie National Forest, an updated travel map showing opportunities for motorized travel on the Dixie National Forest is now available. The map displays areas where motorized use is permitted, and where it is permitted with certain restrictions, as well as areas that are closed to motorized use. Trails and roads are shown throughout the forest. Some changes on the new map are corrections of previous printing errors. According to Max Molyneux of the Dixie's recreation staff, the previous version showed Highways 18, 12, 143, 148 and Pine Valley Road as trails. They are now correctly depicted as roads. Also, the access road to Powell Point was shown on the previous map as an ATV trail; on the new map it is correctly depicted as a four-wheel-drive road. Forest visitors are encouraged to pick up a copy of the map. It is available free of charge at any Dixie National Forest office or call 435-865-3700. |
