J 4 t- 1 V t : -i . ' L , ., ., . Academically, Bryce Valley's Levi LeFevre, Brady Shakespear and Jacob Moss received All-State awards in cross country. Both Levi and Brady also received Academic All-State awards in baseball. BVHS' LeFevre Takes 1st Three High School Teams Make Good Show At State Cross Country By Eric Jessen, Coach Bryce Valley High School On Wednesday, Oct. 22, local high school cross-country teams traveled north to Salt Lake City for the state meet where they accomplished some exciting victories. Bryce Valley High School and Escalante High School traveled with full boys teams and Panguitch High School traveled with two region Top 10 runners. Our schools and communities can be proud of the accomplishments accomplish-ments our student athletes are achieving in the classroom as well. Academically, Levi LeFevre, Brady Shakespear, and Jacob Moss all received Academic All-State awards in cross-country. Noteworthy is the fact that Levi and Brady both received Baseball Academic All-State awards as well. The cumulative GPA for the boys 1 A cross-country was 3.96. On the course Levi accomplished accom-plished one of his goals, topping off a great cross-country running run-ning career, by winning the 1A boys race with a time of 16:24. Levi has run solidly for four years in all of which he has placed in the Top 10 at state competition. Mykel Walsh of Panguitch and Brady Shakepsear of Bryce Valley finished their career in nice fashion by finishing in the Top 10 as well. Mykel was 9th and Brady was 10th. Jory Twitchell, of Bryce Valley, also ran well finishing 12th overall. Escalante's top finishers were Ry Cochran 16th, Shane Shakespear 17th, Tyrell Koyle 27th, Chad Cottam 33rd, and Adam Mclnelly 36th. Also running run-ning for Escalante were Kevin Nez, and Devin McLemore. The team placed at fourth at state . Bryce Valley runners who ended with a third place finish at state after winning the Region 15 title a week earlier. Runners included Kevin Clark 37th, Buzz Harmon 38lh, Jacob Moss 67th and Wyatt Shakespear 69ih. McKay Thompson and Tyson Piatt are both on the Region chapionship team and both will help with next year's squad. Escalante boasts aH excellent sophomore class as well, led by Chad Cottam, Tyrel Koyle, and Adam Melnelly. In the girls competition Jenne Comp of Bryce Valley and' Chelsea Birch of Panguitch ran.1 Chelsea placed 12th and Jenne'' placed 13th. No other girls from, the Garfield County schools, competed. |
