Show tropic NEWS By Vicki Syrett 679-8687 . vickidiane36hotmaiI.com . I have received letters from ET2 Jeff Stock and EF Chris Mitchell. They both say to tell everyone hello and appreciate letters from you. Chris is working work-ing as an Aviation Structural Mechanic on helicopters. Jeff is .keeping busy on a 8 p.m. to 8 -a.m. shift and working hard. Chris is going to be a new dad in October. It was great hearing .from them. ' I also heard from Elders Shiloh Syrett, Daniel Slack and Kyler Brinkerhoff. They are keeping busy and are enjoying their LDS missions. To refresh your memories, Shiloh is in the Maryland Baltimore Mission ."and sends he regards to everyone. every-one. Daniel is in Canada and is working very hard and he also says to tell everyone hello. ;. Kyler is in Michigan and will be coming home at the end of June. He is both excited and sad at the same time. . Nic Syrett was taken by .ambulance to Garfield Memorial Hospital because he stopped breathing, but he is doing better. He has pneumonia and asthma and they don't make for pleasant health. Hurry and get well Nic. He is Arthur and , Vicki Syrett 's grandson and the son of Allen and Tammi Syrett ,of Bryce. June Shakespear is spending time with her daughter, Mavis, while she is recovering. We wish you well June. We all miss you and send you our love and prayers. Gail and Bonnie Miles were on a tour in Pennsylvania. .While there, they enjoyed a delightful visit with Bonnie. s two Amish friends, Katie Stolzfus and Emma Fisher. The entire tour group had a delicious dinner at Katie's farm, with her family. One of the highlights was their stop at Gettysburg. Just a day after arriving home, Maggie Morrison, of Dumfries, Scotland came for a two-day visit. She had flown over for LDS General Conference. Bonnie had spend two weeks with her in Scotland, two years ago and said it was fun to have her in this area. Accompanying them was Jack Bean and his daughter, Nicole, of Salt Lake City. They loved the drive and all the scenic spots, including a trip to Boulder. While, passing . through Escalante, they looked up Bowdie Pollock, who knew Maggie when he was serving and LDS mission in Scotland a few years ago. (Bowdie is the son of Lonnie and Cheryl Pollock of Tropic.) It was a happy reunion and he admitted hearing her Scottish accent made him homesick for Scotland. Next week, Bonnie will be babysitting for her oldest daughter daugh-ter while she accompanies the Hillcrest HS Choir on its spring trip to southern California. Granddaughter Kristen is a member of the choir. While there Bonnie will be teaching a quilting class in Bountiful. Glad to hear that Ashlyn Syrett is doing okay after a scary fall down the stairs at her home. If adults could bounce back as fast as children wouldn't it be nice? Ashlyn is home now and running around like all young kids do and her parents are trying try-ing to get their second wind after the event took place.-Whew!! place.-Whew!! Elaine and Helma Haas want everyone to know how grateful they are for the wonderful letters let-ters and such that everyone has been sending to Elaine's son Greg, who is now in Iraq. They especially thank Keela Mangum and her grandson Cache Mortensen for the beautiful flag and pole they installed on the front lawn. It looks wonderful blowing in the wind. They also thank Jean and Spring Seiler for their thoughtfulness in the banner ban-ner that they gave to them for Greg. It is red, white and blue with a nice blue star in the center. cen-ter. Is sure looks nice in their window. Helma has had company lately late-ly and she is enjoying every minute of it. Her granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, Kris Feltner and husband Tim with children Steven, Ryan, Kaylee, and Kelsey came from Ogden to spend the weekend with them. They also visited with LaMar and Cheri Feltner who are Tim's parents. Tim and Chrishel Leech came down from Logan to spend time with their families. They had Sierra and Taten with them and spent time with Rod and Kathern Syrett of Bryce and Helma and Elaine Haas of Tropic. Rod and Kathern are Chrishel's parents and Elaine Haas is the mother of Tim Leech. Helma is Tim's grandmother. grand-mother. She is always glad to have them come for a visit and gets a big kick out of the great-grandkids. great-grandkids. Wallace and Mary Ott report that daughter Marilyn Murdock and her husband Murt of St. George traveled to China recently. recent-ly. When they came home they were so tired and then they were told that they were quarantined for two weeks because of the SARS virus that is going around. As soon as they get over being house-bound they plan on going to Germany to visit their son and daughter-in-law Cabot Murdock and Marianne and their new granddaughter. grand-daughter. Their son is a surgeon with the Air Force at a hospital in Germany where the injured from Iraq are being treated. Gary and Kathy Davis and children Stacia, Tierra, and Kody came from St. George for a visit. While they were here they all went "Eastering" at Rock Springs, just beyond Kodachrome for those of us who don't know that. Sherrell and Karen Ott along with their children (grown-up at that) Wayne and Melinda went with them and they all took Wallace and Mary Ott out to enjoy the day. Michon, Sherrell and Karen's daughter, works in Salt Lake and was unable to come down. On Sunday they prepared pre-pared a special dinner to belatedly belat-edly celebrate Melinda's birthday. birth-day. A great time was had by all and Mary tells us that it was very enjoyable for her and Wallace. Lamar and Cheri Feltner had a houseful when all the children and grandchildren came home for the weekend. Only Tyler and his family, and Trent Feltner were unable to make it. When they all get together there are 43 of them. Lynn and Tami Scott of Rexburg, Ida., and family; Todd and Jennifer Feltner and family of Washington, Utah; Leslie and her kids came without with-out Trent; Tracy, Shauna and family of Cedar City; Thad, Rome and family of Hurricane; Jarrett and Tanya and children of Cedar City; and Ryan and Teri Cottam of Orem all came to celebrate the faster vacation with their parents. Of course Tristen and Michelle are already here in Tropic with their baby -but they joined in the fun. LaMar Feltner took his father, Hobart Feltner to St. George for some out-patient surgery. Hope all goes well for them. |
