Show PMWUITCa UEl'JS By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroeyahoo.com Don't give up hope! It is almost certain that Spring and Summer will eventually arrive. According to a tale from the old timers (before my time) they could only recall one year since the settling of Panguitch when it stayed so cold that the trees did not leaf out. Speaking of "old timers", are there any of our readers today who remember singing this ditty, or hearing it sung, when they were kids: "01e,01e Ahlstrom, Si Reynolds, Tom Best - Hi Barton, Jim Ipson, Bill Pinney and the rest"? This was sung to the tune, or rhythm, of the Scottish, "Did You Ever See a Lassie?"" I knew most of these "old timers". Last week I reported that Evan Wilcock was1 one of the nominees for the Thunderbird award at Southern Utah University. This week it was reported that he had won the award although he had to share the honor with another student. Congratulations, Evan! UHP Trooper Mike Thomas, his wife April, and his children Andie and Ethan were here for a short stay. They were visiting with the Rick Irish and Henry Thomas families and I am sure they also visited with grand parents par-ents Pat and Ileta Dix. Rick Irish was life-flighted to Salt Lake after suffering a heart attack. Robbie accompanied him to LDS Hospital where an angioplasty revealed a blockage in one of the arteries to his heart. Following treatment, his recovery recov-ery was so good that he was released Apr. 9 to stay with his daughter, April Thomas and family. His daughter, Christy Gann and baby Kassie flew in from Pilot Point, Tex., to be with him during his illness. Pat, Ileta and Kelly Dix also traveled to Salt Lake City to be with him. Rick will probably be home by the time you read this. I should have had this in last weeks column: "At school zones Follow instructions Protect our little Tax deductions" deduc-tions" Burma Shave. |
