Show Panguitch Middle School Student Wins Third In Essay Contest PANGUITCH Seventh grader Shaela Eldredge is $50 richer today, thanks to her writing skills. Eldredge, a student at Panguitch Middle School, and a resident of Hatch, placed third in her grade level in a statewide essay contest, sponsored by the Utah League of Cities and Towns. For her efforts, she received a $50 award for herself and a $500 award for her school. Hatch Mayor N. Richard Sawyer presented the awards on behalf of the Utah League of Cities and Towns at a school assembly at Panguitch Middle School on May 24, 2001. Eldredge's essay was chosen from, essays written by students across the state on the topic of "Why I Like My Community." In its fifth year, the essay contest con-test gives fourth and seventh grade students across the state the opportunity oppor-tunity to expound the virtues of their communities. . Essays are submitted to the Utah League of Cities and Towns and winning essays es-says are selected in the early spring. |
