Show Girls State This Week In Price By John Yardley The Panguitch Lady Bobcats are set to defend their State 1A title at Carbon High School this week. Panguitch lost the "flip" for the top seed from Region 15, thus Wayne will go in first and PHS second. The other spots are still up in the air at press time as the format that began last year has all but the first two places getting into the tournament on a "play-in" basis early in the week. Coaches Curtis Barney and Scott Christensen have led their team to the state championship game three straight years. In girls games last week, Panguitch defeated Bryce Valley as Kali Moore bombed in a career high 21 points. Seniors Camile Chris- tensen hit for 19 and Max Miller drilled 14 in their last regular season game for the Bobcats. Heather Shakespear, Crystal Chynoweth, Esther Johnson and Dayna Dearden all finished their careers in this game against Panguitch, as well. Escalante lost to Valley in a pretty decent game for the Moquis 38-26. Jennifer Lyman scored 9, while Libby Venuti and Ashley Bodily each put in 5. Venuti and Andrea Christensen also finished their regular season careers. Christensen has been a consistent scorer and rebounder for four seasons for Coach Angie Alvey. |
