Show Clerks Countywide Are Accepting Applications For Municipal Positions It's filing time for candidates for November's municipal election, elec-tion, with all eight municipalities' mayoral slots opening up and several set for significant changes in their city councils. Prospective candidates may contact each citytown clerk for their declaration of candidacy filing forms between July 15 and August 15, 1997, Monday -Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. If more than two candidates file for the same seat, a primary election will be held in the fall to reduce the number to two for each position in the November election. In Panguitch, the office of mayor, a four-year term, as well as two four-year city council positions will be open. Forms are available at the Panguitch City Offices, 25 South 200 East, in Panguitch. In Hatch, qualified prospective candidates may contact Miriam Nelson for filing forms, during the hours listed above at the Hatch Town Office at 735-4364. Hatch residents will elect a four-year mayor and two four-year town council members. Tropic's four-year mayoral position will open along with two four-year town council positions. The mayor's seat and three four-year city council positions are open. Those wanting to declare their candidacy in Boulder may contact Judy Davis at 335-7300 for their filing forms for one four-year four-year mayoral position, two four-year four-year town council positions, and two two-year council positions with the potential for all new people at the helm. To declare candidacy for office in any town, prospective candidates must be United States 'citizens, be at least 18-years-old 'or older, be a resident of the municipality for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election, be a registered voter of the municipality, and if elected from a council district, be a resident of the council district. |
