Show By Mariene Haws 826-4859 It would have been pretty quiet in and around Escalante over the fourth of July had it not been for the motorcyclists. The Escalante Chamber of Commerce sponsored a breakfast for them and the towns people. Not many of the people from town took advantage ad-vantage of it. Committee chairman, chair-man, Donnie Randall, said they would love to have the support of people here in town next year. They served breakfast to 150-175, then they traveled to Boulder where Larry Davis catered their dinner that night. The senior citizen bus took a load to Grover where they attended at-tended the play "Wonderland". Those who went were: Deon Alvey, Rolain Alvey, Ardis Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Klyn and Mariene Haws, Gwen Lyman, Suddie Okomoto, Max Porter, Darlene Pierce, LaRue Spencer. They stopped on the road in Boulder and watched those who attended the 4th of July dance, but none of them seemed interested in wanting to participate partici-pate so they came on home. Betty Alvey, and Frank and Angie Alvey went north to spend some time with Jay and Linda Stokes, Riverton, Greg and Irene Tait, South Jordan and to attend the wedding of Johnny Alvey and, Stacy Miller of Palmdale, Calif. They were married in the South Jordan LDS Temple on July third. Johnny's uncle, Vivian Roundy, Salt Lake and uncle and aunt Ethan and Wanda Hansen, Layton joined them for the occasion and there were others, I'm sure. They all enjoyed a barbeque at the Stokes residence one evening and on Sunday, July 6, they attended a mssionary farewell for the son of Greg and Irene Tait, Kerry, who will be leaving soon for an LDS mission to Spain. An open house followed the testimonial. Betty and Linda went to Mendon one day and visited Floyd and Mila Roundy and Tony Alvey came from Idaho Falls, Ida.. Tony brought his daughter, Katie, then Betty brought her home with her for a visit. Twila Mclnelly had most of her family home for the Moose-man Moose-man and Mclnelly reunions. Wells and Emma Lou Mclnelly, Ellensburg, Wash.; Kent and Phyllis Mclnelly, Panguitch; Dan and Asenith Zeleski, Hurricane; (See Escalante News on Page 7-A) Escalante News From Page 2-A Cindy Talbot, Panguitch; Chan and Betty Mclnelly, Farmington; Bryan and Jill Mclnelly and Bret and Kristin Mclnelly, Farmington; Sherrill and Mary Davis, Rex-burg, Rex-burg, Idaho; Scott and Myrna Watts, Kanosh; Grena and Mike Searle, St. George; Lynn and Judy Griffin's family: Brandon and Kelly Stubbs, Jason and Dawn Spencer and Steve and Jill Pickett, all of Cedar City - just to name a few! The Alburn Griffin family had 95 people at their reunion. De-Lane De-Lane and Leah Griffin had 27 family members present. Besides Stan and Marlene Stowe, Bart and Joy Carter and part of Quinn Griffin's family, who all live here, they had Brian and Cristi Stowe and the family of Val and Ann Haws, all of St. George. There were 22 people from the family of Cecil and Carrie Griffin, including Boyd and LaNell Cot-tarn, Cot-tarn, Cedar City and Shelly Wilson, Wil-son, St. George and Darrell and Angie Griffin and part of Debra and Junior Cronins family and the grandchildren who live in Escalante. Esca-lante. Mel and Vaunie Richins had eight, including David and Maria Goerdel and some grandchildren. grand-children. Gene and Thais Griffin hosted the reunion and had most of their family there. Mark Griffin, Grif-fin, St. George; Gary and Sheila Griffin, American Fork; Melanie Griffin, Las Vegas, Nev. and Stephen Ste-phen and Stephanie Volker, St. George - 19 in all. Wayne Stin-son, Stin-son, Salt Lake City and Lennie Mitchell represented the family of Flo Mitchell and cousins Harold and Inarene Griffin, St. George came to join in the fun. Judy Griffin said she had breakfast with the Moosemans, lunch with the Mclnellys and dinner with the Griffins - all in one day! Rolain Alvey, Faye Lyman, Willie Krause and Dana and Lisa Alvey of Cedar City attended the Allen Reunion in Loa. Ardis Christensen, Jolene Phillips, Phil-lips, Julie, Nolan, Lacey and Liberty Lib-erty Lyman went to Lyman for the reunion of Ardis' Grandpa Chap-pell Chap-pell family. Blake Dee and Coralee Robinson, Ro-binson, Salt Lake City, came for a visit with Blake Robinson and Ben and Renee Porter. Velma Boulter and Eva Dean Liston went up north to visit their kids, then Velma brought two great grandchildren home with her for a short visit. Twila Leming had a fire at her place while trying to clean her lot and burn some weeds. She had some burns on her face before she was able to get the fire under control. con-trol. The Gail Bailey family held their family reunion on Boulder Mountain at the cabin of McKay and Gloria Winkle, with 40 in attendance. McKay and Rose Bailey, Alan and Sara Bailey, Fillmore; Terrill and Colleen Bailey and Scott and Chris Bailey Bai-ley all of Las Vegas, Nev.; Bob and Sandra Bailey, Mesa, Ariz.; the Winkle family, Orem and Gail Bailey was there and doing real well, for a man in his nineties! nine-ties! Sylvia Luker and Mary Kazan hosted their Tropic High School Reunion, in Tropic, for the classes of '52 and '53 with 35 present. pre-sent. Walter Talbot, who was a former Tropic Schoolteacher, was there and is now in his eighties. He said they had better not wait five years in between reunions if they wanted him to keep coming! Many friends and relatives were in town for the funeral of Jay Porter, and to visit relatives. Berniece Losee stayed at the home "of daughter and son-in-law Ron and Sandy Hitchcock; Budd and Aloha Porter were .at th home of Klyn and Marlene Haws; Cornell Porter and son Jason, Salt Lake City, stayed with Quinn and Doneen Griffin; Debbie Nelson and girls with Stan and Marlene Stowe; Kelvin and Sue Porter, Provo with Arnold and Deon Alvey; Vernon and Peggy Roundy, Monroe, were in town just for the day. Edith Sharp stayed at the home of her sister, Leah Griffin. Malen and Stan Mecham, Tropic visited at the home of Starns and Fon Mecham. The Reynolds boys, Glade and Keith, Richfield; Dale, Orem and Lark, Cannonville visited with their aunt Nellie Bailey. Ben and Renee Porter had all their kids here: Jim and Shelley Olsen, Coy and Tricia Porter and Bryce and Diann Porter, all of Provo and Charlotte and Norman Johnson, Orem.
