Show Eva Dean Francisco, Tropic, recently accepted an award for her work with the Parent Teacher Students Organization. Teacher Gayle Moore nominated Francisco for the award after she served for more than two years working with first grade students, listening to them read aloud. Eva Dean Francisco Receives Plaque For Work With PTSO TROPIC "The award recognition recog-nition was special" says local volunteer vol-unteer Eva Dean Francisco, "but the real rewards are the hugs." Francisco referred to a recent plaque she received from the Bryce Valley Parent Teacher Student organization or-ganization (PTSO) for her work with students at Bryce Valley Elementary. Ele-mentary. The 69-year-old volunteer received the plaque for "outstanding service" at the annual meeting of that group. Moore pointed out in her nominee nomi-nee AWARD On Page 5-A) AWARD From Page 2-A nation letter that Francisco comes every day for over an hour, leaving her husband and business, to work one on one with each student to improve their reading skills. It is obvious to Moore that Francisco loves the children and they love her right back. Some even call her "grandma." Moore expressed in her nomination nomina-tion of Francisco that her "one on one" time with the children is invaluable in-valuable and has instilled confidence and a smoothness in their reading. Even librarian Sandy Johnson commented on how much better students performed after working with Francisco. |
