Show Pcnrsltch L'y;;; By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 The funniest sight of the week was a tiny hummingbird trying to suck red mercury from an outside thermometer. The parent robins are very busy feeding their second batch of nestlings of the summer so we know we're on the downhill side of summer. The little ones have to be out of the nest and able to fly and support themselves before flying away for the winter. Mike and Trudi Miller Owens family went to the LDS Temple to be sealed. Clarence and Hazel Cameron will be celebrating their 60th wedding wed-ding anniversary on July 23 in Panguitch. They are glad to be home among life-long friends and are anxious to see them. The Kay Heywood family is home after the medical trip to Salt Lake City for Kay's heart problems. prob-lems. July 1 1 was the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward conference Stake officers were present in classes and President Presi-dent Shannon Allen and Bishop Kenneth Miller were speakers at Sacrament meeting. The Ward Choir, Young Men and Young Women sang "This is My Country". Coun-try". The Lawrence and Hazel Orton family reunion was held at Red Point on Mammoth Creek on July 8, 9 and 10. Many trailers and tents were filled with families enjoying en-joying good food, volleyball, tubing, tub-ing, horse shoes and camp games. Out-of-town people who came were: Duane, Linda and son Gary Orton; JoAnn, Darrin, Kizzy and Dillon Jones; Cristy and Maya Savage; and Torie Orton, all of St. George. Also attending wereRyan and Terrie Orton from Yukon, Okla., who had been visiting his folks, the Kenny Ortons, Bucky Orton and Coby Glover, from Kanab, Jamie Orton of Grover, Judy Mann, Bryan, Sharan, Levi and Shyanne Sorenson of Salt Lake City, Wally, Lynnete and Steven Orton, Steven, Machelle, Kaden and Makelle Pollock Pol-lock of Tropic; Jacob and Bobby Alvey, of Richfield; Tanya and Tasha Hassee and a friend of Mesa; Ariz.; Tommy and Debbie Johnson Of Ely, Nev.; and Leandra Tew of Altamont. A total of 83 people enjoyed the last day together and everyone seems to be anxious for a repeat of the fun get-together next year and appreciate Denny Orton for starting and organizing the special occasion. The roads in the industrial park area, west of Panguitch Creek are being built up with many loads of soil which, along with the rain, makes a lot of mud right now but it will sure help the businesses there eventually. Our love goes out to the family of Opal Berrett at her death. She and husband Rulon were loved here. A special thanks goes to Joann Orton for the years she helped with Rulons care and afterward when PANGUITCH From page 2-A Opal needed her. We also send our love to the Sawyer family at Niles' death. He was a special man. A number of folks went to Cannonville for the Old Time Fiddlers Fid-dlers Bear Festival: the Earl Roes and Art Cooper, the Wally Henries, Rex Sanbergs, Bob Smiths enjoyed the music, food and friends on the trip. The festival is delightful. It isn't every day that a real live wild bear comes wandering to one's door. Jaunita Smith and Merle Stow-ell Stow-ell had surgeries and are doing well. Many folks were out on "Clean-Up-Day". Over 50 loads of trash were hauled away, along with 21 old cars. We appreciate the services that were given. Lots of people also extend their mowing and watering water-ing of grass out toward the street to do away with the ugly fringe of weeds that detract from well kept yards. Thanks to every who cares. Also thanks to those who plant big gardens and scatter the produce like manna from heaven. Mack and Pat Oetting, their two daughters and two granddaughters vacationed for three weeks by driving driv-ing to Nauvoo and on into the beautiful northeastern states. . Art and Bev Crosby had son Bill and grandson here to help dad put a nice metal roof on his solid granery. Bev says she has been so busy with such activities that she hasn't had time to report on the wedding of granddaughter Mckenzie Crosby, daughter of the Robert Crosbys. Bob and Grace Benfield have a new roof on their attractive old red brick house. In the 4th LDS Ward, youth speakers on July 18 were Aaron Frandsen and Tyler Barney. Stake visitors were Ann Farnsworth andMaloy Dodds and Nicole Orton and Britteni Black sang a song. The Jack and Jessie Talbot family fam-ily reunion was Jield July 17 at the City Park. We haven't heard the details but it is a large family with not many of the original family left but lots of descendants of the dear people who live here and around the state. Chad and Michelle Black have a new baby boy who will be named Cashe. He has three sisters and one brother. Great-grandmother here is Freda Talbot. Grandparents are the Roger Linfords and the late Loretta Talbot Linford. Art Cooper is here for good from Texas and will tear down the old stone Marshall home and move in another house across from the elementary school. Welcome home Art. Two members of the Max Prince family were here at the old Herbert Prince house on 1st North and 2nd East and were working in the house. It has been vacant for 50 years since Herbert and Rilla Prince went to California to do "war work". We hope someone will soon fix it up to live in. From Salt Lake City, Allen and Debora Frandsen Bess have been here with her folks Lawerence and Margaret Frandsen. They have been enjoying life at the family cabin at Panguitch Lake. Sue Ann Swalgurg of the LDS Stake Relief Society and president Nick Reynolds of the Stake presidency presi-dency were the speakers in 2nd Ward. The Primary children's songs were lovely. The Bruce Hatches are here from Nevada staying at the family home on Main Street. Ren and Melanie McEwen Olson Ol-son and family opened the Clem McEwen home for the summer. Jim and Neucile Yardley attended American Legion meetings in Salt Lake City. Frank and Cecile Houston Orton and son Ronnie and wife were here for a week prior to the Orton' Reunion. Reun-ion. Mark and Micah Owens' families fami-lies and Denny Orton's family celebrated cele-brated July 4 with mom Verna Owens. Ned Evans spent time in his parents' home, the Jess Cherring- ton-Evans house. The Ron Proctor family was here from Enoch with his parents George and Thora Proctor. George Perkins aifd sister Renec and family were here for the blessing bless-ing of Ralph and Natalie Perkins' little daughter. Mary K. and Micheal Norman and daughter Jackie and grandchildren grandchil-dren were here at great-grandparents Keith and Rosemond Henries for Pioneer day. Toni and Sara Stowell are here at Merle Stowells on their way to Oklahoma to join Don Stowell where they will live. The new schedule for open hours at the city dump is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. |
