Volunteers have been helping to lay a blacktop surface an the Panguitch High School track to prepare for a new rubberized surface. Thus far, the track has had a blacktop base laid on its gravel surface. The next big hurdle is to raise enough money to apply the final rubberized surface to the asphalt. as-phalt. Based on the success in recent years of the girls and boys track teams, a group of interested com munity members formed a committee commit-tee to improve the track with Coach Troy Norris as chairman. By mid-July, approximately $44,000 of equipment, time and materials had been donated to the project. A combined effort by Panguitch City, Garfield County, the Utah Department of Transportation and several area businesses and individuals indi-viduals have made the progress possible. pos-sible. Great supporters have included Ruby's Inn, Mosdells, Zion's Bank, the Thompsons, the Morgans and various municipal and state employees who have donated their own time, gravel, equipment usage, cement and engineer costs.
