Show I Tropic ficwj 1 By Lynn Munson 679-8627 The Les and Flora LeFevre family fam-ily reunion was held Friday evening. even-ing. There were almost 80 descendants descen-dants attending. There were 28 members of Ellis and Janet's family, fam-ily, six of LaMar and Ethel's family, fam-ily, 27 of John Lyle and Jennie's family. Bonnie Willis had two members there, 14 of Reed and Mary's family, Velma and Harry Lambert and Russell LeFevre. Dale and Olene LeFevre, who are serving an LDS mission, were unable to attend. They all met at the Bryce Valley Park area at and were served a terrific meal cooked and served by Reed's family. .They certainly enjoyed en-joyed reliving old childhood stories and it was a great reunion. Earlier on Friday, the Tropic High School classes of 1951, '52, '53 and '54 also met at the Bryce Valley Park. There were almost 60 people there to look at old photos and scrap books and some of the brave ones walked up the "BV" hill. Representing the class of 1951 were Kenneth and Pauline Cameron, for the class of 1952 were Ted Johnson, John-son, Weldon Sudweeks, Mark and Mary Bybee, Mira Loy Sudweeks, Golden Johnson, and Bybee Campbell Camp-bell and their spouses. There were too many to list for the 1953 class. Also attending from the class 1949 were Bob Ott and John Johnson. Carma Willis and Lael Nelson were the 1955 representatives and Wynona Goulding for 1956. It wouldn't be a school reunion without with-out teachers Ella Adair and Afton Pollock. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful won-derful Dutch oven dinner and sharing shar-ing old memories. Lowell and Margaret Mecham, Weldon Sudweeks Sud-weeks and Carolyn Smith Davies were in charge and did a terrific job. Hope to see them all again in two years. Lance Lewis was baptized on Saturday. Welcome to the LDS Ward, Lance. On July 16, all of Phyllis Stewart's family met at Pine Valley. Val-ley. There were about 40 family members there to celebrate their father Floyd Tucker's 75th birthday. He lives in St. George and the family fam-ily had a great visit together. Lowell and Margaret Mecham had all their children, Steve, Scott, Sherrie and Shauna and their families fami-lies home to visit and to attend the Hatch reunion. Steve's two children chil-dren Elsie and Drew stayed another week to keep their grandparents busy The Hatch reunion was held July 16, 17 and 18 at Tropic Reservoir Reser-voir campgrounds. There were at least 200 family members attending. attend-ing. They spent three days camping, camp-ing, fishing and visiting. One of the cousins caught a - pound trout off the boat ramp. They enjoyed a huge dinner on Saturday, then Sunday Sun-day morning, everyone shared a breakfast before they leaving. Last Friday, Kerry and JoNeil went through the Salt Lake LDS Temple with nephew Scott Snidely before he goes on a mission. JoNeil and the boys haven't been home much since July 4. Her father fa-ther is not well and spent a week in the hospital. He is now home in Hurricane. JoNeil has been there helping her mother for two weeks. She comes home on the weekend. Merrilee Mecham and children spent a day in Cedar City doing some important shopping. She bought a basketball standard for the kids! Dick and Mary Ann Snowden of Estes Park, Colo., stopped for a quick visit with Ella Adair while on their way to the John H. Johnson family reunion which was held in Enoch on July 17. LaMar LeFevre was the only one from Tropic to attend. The reunion was hosted by the Bernard Johnson family. Bernard Ber-nard is in his 90' s and still enjoys attending every year. There were 50 to 60 members there from the original five Johnson children. Orlan and Ferriland Ruesch had brother Darr Hatch from Moab with them for a visit. The annual Hatch Reunion at Tropic Reservoir was held Saturday, and we should get more details next week. Larvin and Eva Pollock had their own family reunion on Saturday Satur-day too. Brent and Pauline Allen from Oklahoma, Marian Allen from Orem, Maureen Reed from Mesa, Ariz., and Bill and Stacy from He-ber He-ber City and all their families were here. Sons Gerry and David and their families, of course, attended. There were 50 or more to dinner in their back yard. At Adrian and Glenna Pollock's last week were: Vee and his son r David, all the way from Illinois; Garnell from Bountiful; Royce and his son Cody from Panguitch; daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Grant LeFevre and children were also there during the week. The men put a brand new roof on their parents home. A great job done and a good visit, too! Mary Ott's daughter, Kathy Davis took Mary to Cedar City for a check-up with her doctor, who gave her a good report. She stayed overnight with Kathy and family in Toquerville, then son Sherrell Ott brought her home late Thursday. Marilyn Murdbck of St. George was here on the weekend, to check on her parents. Elder Dustin Shakespear of Es-calante Es-calante flew out of the Salt Lake City Airport early Monday morning on his LDS mission. There to see him off were grandmother Dixie Shakespear, grandfather Vernon Spencer, parents Ed and Camille and brothers Dallen and Devin. Friends from Escalante and Boulder were also there to say farewejl. On their way home, as they drove through Spanish Fork, Camille recognized one of two missionaries on their bikes. They stopped and had a nice visit with Elder Skaff who was here in Garfield County for several months. Later, Betty Lou's daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Rich Williams stopped by Dixie's for a quick visit. They stayed long enough to wash and clip her dog. Scott and Marie Barton were in Cedar City last week for a dental appointment and to visit Marie's mother who lives there. Larry and Carol Cloward of West Valley are at the campground at Ruby's Inn for several days. They are visiting Carol's parents, Reela and Royal Alvey and sister and brothers in Tropic. On Sunday, July 1 1,' Jan Munson's two sons, John afidDar-rel afidDar-rel and their cousin, Josie Shakespear, made a quick oycrn'ght visit to unload a lot of their belonging. belong-ing. The boys were on their'way to Las Vegas to seek new jobs' and an-apartment. an-apartment. They returned Friday to spend a week fishing and just enjoying en-joying Tropic before starting back to work. Don and Dixie Munson and daughter Deb, all frorh Salt Lake City, and daughter Donell, her three girls and three grandkids of St. George all attended the Johnson Reunion on Saturday. Deb has to hurry back home because she has been a judge for the July 24 Pioneer Parade for several years. Don and Dixie came back to Pine Lake for a few more days. They really enjoyed the fishing while camped there two weeks ago. There should be lots of news over the July 24 weekend so please call and let me know what you are doing. |
