Show - Tropic News By Louise Ott 679-8776 , Kathryn Boyd came home with her mother Mary Miller Boyd and visited for a week. With the school year winding down it is the time of year that classes take field trips, Gayle Moore took her first grade class to Kodachrome. Vicki Syrett took her fourth grade to Bryce Canyon National Park. They went to the Visitor Center then hiked down the famous trail, Scott Barton took his fifth grade class to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Shelly and John Shakespear attended the Regional track meet in Milford where John took first place in pole vault. Shelly took fourth in javelin. Franz and Margaret Shakespear are their parents. Eric Clarke son on Wes and Ellen Clarke qualified for State in the 100-meter. Karlene Mclnelly and Vicki Syrett hosted a quilt tying party for Lee Ann Stark Muir at Ruby's Inn. It was a chance to meet Lee Ann and a good time was had by all. Lee Ann is from Clearfield. She became the bride of Shannon Muir on May 17. Jean and Spring Seiler said that daughters Amy and Mandy will be coming home for the summer. They have been going to Utah Valley State College in Orem. Russell Slack was home for Mother's Day visiting his parents Earl and Jacque. Tanya Feltner Taylor visited with the LaMar Feltners and attended brother Tyler's Seminary graduation. Kerry and Donna Neilson visited in town and Bill and Carol Niemann also visited over the week end. LaMar and Ethel LeFevre were in Las Vegas Nev. over Mother's Day where they attended the wedding of granddaughter, Jena Marie, daughter of Leslie and Delia LeFevre. Then the LeFevres travelled to Fillmore to attend the graduation of granddaughter Monica Beth Moody, daughter of Susan and Jon Moody who live in Scipio. Dean and Erma Wintch along with Afton and Del Rae Pollock traveled to Coeur d Alene, Ida. to visit sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Jeff Gjevre. They had a great visit with them and saw a lot of beautiful country. Waylon Brinkerhoff received his mission call to serve in the Santiago, Chile, mission. He will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo on July 9th. Gary and Connie Ott visited with their mother Faye Pollock on Mother's Day. Faye and DeVar Pollock, Keela and Paul Mangum, Lacey Mangum, Janet Pollock, and Louise and Stanley Ott were all in Torrey for the wedding of Lee Ann Ott and Cody Grundy. Lee Ann is the daughter of Marty and llene Ott. Faye and DeVar stayed over night as all of their children and grandchildren were in attendance, it was great seeing all of them again on this happy and special occasion. Congratulation to Shelly Shakespear on being selected to the Academic All-State track team. She received her award at the State Track meet in Provo May 16-17. Shelly is the daughter of Franz and Margaret Shakespear. Graduation from Bryce Valley is tonight the 29th of May the keynote speaker will be Sharon J. Lord, Assistant Director of School Relations at Southern Utah University, Lord is also involved with the "Make a Wish Fondation of Utah" she is and avid reader, writer and photographer. Mike and Lesa Ahlstrom have been in Cancun on a special honeymoon. Visiting with Sara Littlefield are James and Susie Littelfield from San Francisco, Calif., JaNell Cook from Virginia, and Steve Littlefield from Farmington, Utah. Every time James and Susie come to visit their mother we have some lovely storms. The world certainly smells fresh and clean after the rains, and we need all of the mensture that we can get. There were 17 children who graduated from Kindergarten on May 22. That is a good size class. Phyllis and Max Stewart were in Salt Lake City where Max attended some meetings. Their son Chance was home from college over the week-end. Yolanda Lumas and her three children have moved into Beatrice Barton's place. Welcome Wel-come to Tropic, it is good to see someone living there again. |
