Show Escqlante News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Ruby Griffin called from St. George to say that the "Escalante Reunion" down there was a huge success and a lot of fun. Some of the names that I can remember that she mentioned, of the people who were there were: Miles and Maizie Lee, Richard Barker, Flora Mitchell Marchant, Naida Mitchell Mclnelly, Gay Coleman, Harold and Gerald Griffin, Evelyn Heaps, Loreta Shurtz, Ivan and Clea Shurtz, Herb and Norine Allen, Doyle and Thelma Cottam, Jim and Rose Calwcll, Arma Lay, Nina Barney, Cummings and Golda Gates, Jim and Janet Spencer and Ken and Roma Clark. Ruby Griffin, LaVene Mitchell Wilkins and Dawn Griffin were the hostesses, (so I'll bet Bill Griffin was there, too!) Gene and Thais Griffin are on llieir way home from Mesa, Ariz. Gene has won all the tournaments and trophies in that area so there probably aren't too many left that want to play with him! All the pool teams from all the parks in the Phoenix Mesa Area play each year for a big trophy. . Gene and his partner captured that this year and took it back to their park to keep for a year. He and another partner won the silver medal in the Senior Olympics in Tennis, in the Phoenix Phoe-nix Mesa area. Thais is still swimming, taking art classes, playing play-ing cards and has even been on a pool team herself. They attended the races at "Turf Paradise" just before they came home and saw Darrell Alvey, Blake Robinson and Art Crosby from Panguitch. Bob Faulkner is still commuting commut-ing back and forth between here and Monroe to visit his wife Sheila Woolley Faulkner. If you know of anyone who would like to buy a house in Monroe, Bob would like to sell one and move here! Good luck, Bob! Kent and Phyllis Mclnelly, Hurricane, Hur-ricane, visited at the home of Twila Mclnelly for a few days. |
