Show Sixth District Court Actions PANGUITCH Judge David L. Mower presided over a light Sixth Judicial District Court agenda on Thurs., Apr. 1, where only two criminal matters were handled. Heather Linford Mead, 26, formerly of Panguitch but presently residing in Ely, Nev. was before the court on three second degree felony counts .of theft of approximately $77,000. She was represented by Attorney Jim Park of Cedar City. A plea bargain had been reached in which she agreed to plead guilty to a single count of theft, a third degree felony. The plea was accepted by Judge Mower who then proceeded on a fast track to sentencing sen-tencing with the defendant having waived all rights. No pre-sentence background check was requested. Mower sentenced Mead to from zero to five years in state prison and a fine of S9.250. He suspended both the prison time and the fine but ordered Mead to make restitution restitu-tion in the amount of $20,000. (See COURT on page 5-A) COURT From Front Page She was placed on 36-months unsupervised probation and ordered to begin making payments of $300 per month commencing May 5. Greg Hughes, Cannonville, was before the court to request a reduction in the severity or level of his offense before the court. He had been convicted of a single third degree felony count of attempted forcible sexual abuse. Garfield County Attorney Wallace Lee made an impassioned plea to the court to let the felony conviction and sentencing stand. However, Judge Mower saw fit to reduce the felony conviction to a Class A misdemeanor misde-meanor and terminate Hughes' present pres-ent probation. |
