Show I I ' " I I . r" i i i i ' ... t r. "' The Escalante Chamber cf Commerce sponsored a Candidates night in Escalante to present the candidates for city council positions that are open this year. Those candidates present were, left to right, Bob Ramsay (standing), president-elect of ESCALANTE A good turnout turn-out of voters came to hear eight of the 10 candidates for the three four-year four-year Escalante city council seats. After each candidate gave a brief introduction, they responded to questions posed by the chamber of commerce on their vision for Escalante Esca-lante for the next two years, how to balance to budget, the Escalante Center, the enforcement of the the Escalante Chamber of Commerce; Stanley Stowe, Don Mosier, Dean GledhilL Howard Miller, Elden Griffin, Sherrie Rechsteiner, Tom Mansell and Rick HowelL Escalante's primary election will be held next Tuesday. Escalante Chamber Sponsors Candidates Night planning and zoning ordinances, and other questions. Audience members then posed questions to the panel on the development devel-opment of the 550 acre feet of water recently designated to the city from the Flaming Gorge project, future funding for the city library, police salaries, and a possible city council dress code. At the end of two hours of discussion, all residents had a better focus on the candidates. After the Oct. 5 primary, there will be a second candidates night spsonored by the chamber of commerce com-merce and senior citizen's groups, featuring the six candidates who will be on the ballot for the general election in November, plus the two mayoral candidates, incumbent Lenza Wilson and Marjie Spencer. |
