Show ) t DeWayne Dawson DeWayne Dawson Receives Award DeWayne Dawnson, 18, a sophomore at the College of Eastern East-ern Utah has been awarded the 1999 Native American Journalism AssociationNew Asso-ciationNew York Times Scholarship Scholar-ship in Seattle, Wash. Dawson has been living in Garfield Gar-field County for the past four years, attending CEU, majoring in journalism jour-nalism with a minor in communications. communi-cations. A 1998 graduate of South Sevier High School in Monroe, where he was yearbook editor. He contributed to local newspapers in Sevier County and is currently a reporter for "The Eagle", newspaper on CEU campus. Dawson started as a reporter the summer of 1997 in Minneapolis, Minn., at Augsburg College. The first ever "Rising Voices" is a Minneapolis based National Native Youth newspaper dealing with issues is-sues among Native teens and inner city life. Dawson has been a reporter re-porter and a graphics designer for the paper. He will be attending CEU journalism jour-nalism school for another year, and entering University of Wisconsin Journalism School to further his experience in journalism. Dawson is currently employed at Ruby's Inn. He likes to meet new people and loves research. |
