Show Marlene Ludgate Mitchell ESCALANTE Marlene Ludgate Mitchell, 39, of Escalante, passed away July 24, 1999 in an automobile accident. She was born Oct. 15, 1959, in Scoby, Mont, to Wallace Bardon and Judy Woolsey Ludgate. She married Sheldon Steed, later divorced. She married Rob Mitchell, later divorced. Marlene lived in Riverton, Wyo. where she was active in school functions, including the drill team. She graduated from Escalante High School in 1978. She was an excellent worker and provider. She worked at H&S Service, Prospector Motel and was currently employed at Utah Forest Products in the planer mill. She loved crafts and was an excellent ex-cellent seamstress and cook. Marlene Mar-lene loved the outdoors and will be dearly missed by her children, parents, par-ents, friends and all who knew her. Evelyn Munson Lay Our sweetheart, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Evelyn Munson Mun-son Lay passed away July 19, 1999 in Mesa, Ariz., surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born Aug. 27, 1924 in Tropic, to Lewis Leo and Hortense Cope Munson. She moved with her family at the age of two years to Escalante, where she resided until after WWII. She married mar-ried her high school sweetheart, Olaf Kim Lay on Apr. 22, 1943 in the Manti LDS Temple. They resided re-sided for several years in Escalante, and Circleville, before moving to the Salt Lake City area. They lived in Kearns,for 43 years while raising their children. The past 10 years have been divided di-vided between Mesa and Riverton. Mom spent her life anxiously engaged in a good cause - whether it was raising her children, helping her neighbors, friends, brothers and sisters or others in need of a helping help-ing hand. She was the family poetess; give her an occasion and she would write a poem. She has been an active membebr of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life, having served in many callings; den mother, Primary teacher, Young Women leader, Sunday School teacher, president of the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society; ward, stake, and region. She was a perfect example to all she met, showing love and enduring faith in her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. Evelyn is survived by her best friend and companion of 56 years, Kim; her nine children: Joyce (Marvin) Pease of West Valley City; Daniel Kim (Sherry) Lay, Salt Lake City; Marilyn (Kent) Bessie Perkins Larsen Bessie Greenhalgh Perkins Larsen, Lar-sen, age 68 of Payson, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. She was born July 18, 1931 in Junction, a daughter of George Downing and Nellie Brinkerhoff Greenhalgh. She married James Daniel Perkins, Perk-ins, Sr., Oct. 8, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1988. She later married mar-ried Jack D. Larsen, March 13, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nev. Bessie graduated from Piute High School and went on to attend Dixie College. She worked for the Forest Service for 25 years, serving in the Dixie Ranger District in Panguitch and Cedar City, and in the Uintah District in Provo. She was known for keeping an eye on her neighbors and sharing fresh vegetables from her garden with them. She was always willing to help with anything anyone needed. She enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, sew-ing, cooking, watching movies, and especially watching the grandkids participate in livestock shows. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints in the West Mountain 4th Ward and had served in the Relief Re-lief Society, as organist, worked in the record center, and worked in the Young Women's Program in Panguitch. Survivors include: her husband, Jack, of Payson; three daughters and three sons, Nellyn (Floyd) Cox, Salt Lake City; Danny (Michelle) Perkins, Panguitch; Susie (Travis) Cornwall, Prescott, Ariz.; Rcnae (Mike) Fisher, and George (Bonnie) Perkins, all of Cedar City; Ralph (Natalie) Perkins, Panguitch; three stepdaughters: Marthanne (Dennis) . i-ui ! She was preceeded in death by two grandchildren and a brother, LoRell Munson. Funeral services were held in Riverton on July 23. Interment was at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East in Sandy. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister. Funeral services were Wednesday, Wednes-day, Aug. 4 at 1 1 am., in the West Mountain 4th Ward Chapel, three miles west of Payson on Utah Ave., where friends may call 9:45 -10:45 a.m. Additional services will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999 in the Panguitch FirstSecond Ward Chapel, 625 South 100 West, where friends may call from 10 -10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery. |
