Show Garfield County Fair Promises Fun PANGUTTCH Mid-point events of the Garfield County Fair get underway with a full slate of activities to keep fairgoers entertained. The popular Demolition Derby, set for Saturday of next week (Aug. 23), will top off this year's fair events. This week, on Thursday morning, while non-perishable exi-bits exi-bits are being judged (closed to the public), the Annual Junior Horse Show will take place at 9 a.m. at the fairgrounds. At 2 in the afternoon, Cow Cutting Competition will provide a free show for spectators at the new arena. The annual High School Rodeo Ro-deo Queen Contest is set for the LDS Stake Center at 4 p.m. with free admission. All perishable exhibits of fruits, vegetables and flowers must be entered between 8 and 10 p.m. on Friday. The midway officially opens at 10 a.m. when exhibits will also open to the public. There is no admission fee. Ongoing demonstrations and contests will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the new arena and grandstand arena at no charge to the public. Fans can watch steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, break-a-way roping, barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying. At noon a Dutch oven cookout demonstration will be presented by professional R. L. (Bob) Ririe. At the fair building, fairgoers can enter the annual jelly bean contest as they enter, with a 4-H demonstration set for 2 p.m., a water games contest at 3 p.m. and a the Annual High School Rough Stock Rodeo at 7 p.m. at the grandstand arena. On Saturday morning, youngsters will enter their animals for exhibit between 8 and 10 a.m. for the always popular Junior Livestock Show which starts at 10 a.m. with a junior and adult livestock judginmg contest. and lamb is set for 10:30 and breeding class judging at 1 1:30. The midway and exhibits open at 10 a.m. with admission free. Fairgoers should forego breakfast if they're planning to participate in the pie-eating contest at 10 a.m. A balloon shaving contest is set for 11, with more Dutch oven demonstrations at noon. The Annual Pet Show gets underway at 1 p.m., celebrity impersonations and look-a-likes contest is at 1:30 and a talent and fashions show starts at 2. Another big night of High School Rough Stock Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. at the grandstand arena. A dance featuring "Rockin' Rick" will top it all off Saturday night at 9 at the fair building. Ticket prices are $3 for adults and $2 for kids for the rodeo (pay once a day) and for the dance, $5 for couples and $3 for individuals. indivi-duals.
