Bernard's children that were here for that occasion were: Burdell, now living liv-ing in Harriman; Sally Heaton, Hyde Park; Beanie (Marlene) Palmer, Albuquerque, NM; and Bernice and Don Miller, now retired re-tired and living in a motorhome while traveling thoughout the US and neighboring countries. His daughter, Toi (Arlene) Williamson William-son was unable to accompany them because she was in Germany Ger-many with her daughter, who was recovering from a ski accident. Please stop and visit Bernard, it would be beneficial for him to see his Panguitch friends that he has missed so much while living away from Panguitch the past nine years. Many college students were home during spring break. Rea Dodds had family visit over the weekend. Charles and Lorene Hepworth had the Bobby Owens family, Kevin and Lesa Hepworth's family, fam-ily, and Kenny and Artas Hep-worth's Hep-worth's family with them over the weekend for an Easter picnic. Ralph Goulding baptized grandson Kazen Goulding a member of the LDS Church. Kazen and his folks Troy and Colleen Col-leen Pollock came from Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Kim and Gretchen Goulding Sullivan and son came from St. George. Terry and Leola Henrie had family here. Golda Julander spent Easter in Richfield with family. Denny, Jean and Alta Orton went north for medical appointments. appoint-ments. Loyhova Camp DUP held their April meeting on Tuesday, Apr. 14 at the library. Ivadell Yardley read a story her mother-in-law LaReta Yardley had written. De-bra De-bra McKee gave the lesson on Morgan County. Debra, Ivadell and Mary Simkins were hostesses for the meeting. In Panguitch LDS Second (See PANGUITCH On Page 4-A) Panguitch News From Page 2-A Ward Sacrament meeting, the Easter program was presented by the Primary, Young Women, and the ward choir each performing Easter songs. Jill Chidestcr was a speaker. Panguitch Elementary students were very interested in the classes held by the Utah State Archeologist last Wednesday. Richard and Marilyn Talbot's family came from Orem to enjoy their spring break vacation with 3 grandma Mamie Talbot. The kids had a lot of fun and dad Rich went to St. George for two days to join his archeology survey crew before returning on Saturday to pick up everyone for the trip home. The butterflies are beginning to flutter by. Panguitch Lake is melting. No ice fishermen now, but a few fishermen sitting meekly on shore with lines dangling in the two or three feet of clear water showing along shore. The ducks are glad to find homes on the west side. The creeks are putting good streams into the lake as the snow melts on the hills. Hilma Excell and her daughters daugh-ters Barbara Gai and Dorothy Sue are home from a three week trip to Israel. They had fun crossing the Sea of Galilee on a boat. They saw the Brigham Young University School on the Mt. of Olives, the Garden of Gethse-mane, Gethse-mane, the Garden Tomb of Jesus, and went to the top of Masada among other historical sites. They went to Egypt and toured Cairo and saw King Tuts tomb. Hilma said she even rode a camel while there. On the way home, they stopped in the beautiful city of Brussels, Belgium and toured it by taxi cab. The travelers brought many souvenirs home for family and found two new great grand babies awaiting them in Utah. Clarence and Hazel Cameron are home for the summer now. Must be getting sort of warm in the Dixie country. A special event was held on Apr. 20 at the local St. Gertrude's Catholic Church. Bishop George Niederauer of the Salt Lake City Diocese was in Panguitch for the first time to perform the confirmation confirma-tion services for a group of members: mem-bers: one adult member, Monica Calderon, and eight young people: peo-ple: Bill Macklin, Richard McCrumb III, Emiley Matthew, Nick Matthew, Andrew Reddan and Nick Reddan of Panguitch, Simeon Hoogland and Margaret Hoogland of Bryce Canyon. Parents, Par-ents, teachers and many family members and friends were present for the happy occasion. The group enjoyed a delightful dinner and visiting after the service. Dora Galvan was elected "Woman of the Year" by the congregation con-gregation for the many unsung services she renders at St. Gertrudes Ger-trudes and its members, for caring for the church building and helping help-ing at meals, etc. We hear that if a "Man of the Year" award was given, Art Galvan would surely be elected for all he does. The Gal-vans Gal-vans are the parents of Mrs. Bob Ramos, recently passed away. They are retired and live in the yellow house on Highway 89 north of town. The Panguitch Elementary 2nd. grade students went to Bryce Canyon for their spring field trip the 3rd graders went to Boulder to the Anasazi Museum. The 4th grades went to Zion National Park to meet their pen pals and have fun. The Panguitch LDS Stake Center was packed for the Stake Conference on April 19. It was so good to see all the folks who were here from surrounding towns. Approved Ap-proved to be ordained elders from Panguitch were Gaylen Dalton, Steven Heath Hatch, Zach Decker and Gene Roundy. Called to work in the Stake Young Womens organization was Earla Owens. Bishop Kelly Hol-man Hol-man reported that his folks Laurel and Louise Holman will return from their Albania mission the first of July. Louise has already sent a roomful of boxes packed with stuff from there. One of the new missionaries here, Elder Thema, was set apart for his mission mis-sion by Mission President Laurel Holman in Albania and will be back there in time to say 'good bye' to the Holmans before they Jeave to come home. Our love goes to Armeda Syrett Farnsworth's family at the time of her death We miss her since she has been living in St. George. Her funeral was here on Apr. 25. Jay and Dudley Proctor and George and Thora Proctor went Caliente, Nev. for the funeral of Gerald Witters. He is the husband hus-band of their niece Shanna Rae Proctor Veater Witters, a Panguitch Pan-guitch native. We welcome Elder Micah Owens home from his mission . Mom and dad Verna and Bruce Owens are glad to have him home. Marie Kohl, formerly of Bryce Canyon and Panguitch, died April 23 in California. Her husband is the late Bud Kohl, who was the town barber. Our love goes to their family. Thanks to Emma Ahlstrom for letting us know about our dear friend. |
