Show Ticaboo Area Victim Died Execution Style TICABOO The Garfield County Sheriffs Office released information this week on a body found Apr. 20 in the Maidenwater Springs area near Lake Powell. In a recent news release, Sheriff Than Cooper reported that an autopsy performed at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Salt Lake City revealed the body to be that of a female approximately approxi-mately 40 years of age, five feet two inches to five feet four inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Her head was taped with duct tape and her wrists taped to her waist. The sheriffs office has asked for help in identifying the body, and flyers with a photo of the dead woman have been distributed in the eastern part of Garfield County, at Ticaboo and Bullfrog, and in Wayne County. They are also available at the Sheriffs Office in Panguitch. Elderly tourists, hiking in the area, discovered the body and reported it to park rangers at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area who in turn contacted the Garfield County Sheriffs Office. The National Park Service secured the crime scene until Sheriff Cooper and Boulder area Deputy Ray Gardner arrived. After verifying that the sleeping bag found by the two hikers contained a body and determining foul play. Sheriff Cooper requested assistance from the State Medical Examiners Office and the State Crime Lab Investigative Unit. The crime scene was checked for evidence and the body taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Salt Lake City. Sheriff Cooper has continued the investigation, but reports that there are no suspects as yet.
