Show By Mamie Talbot Like a single clean note of music, mu-sic, the bright blue of a mountain bluebird has been seen flitting among the sagebrush. Several hopeful seagulls are hovering around and a pair of small ducks have found refuge in the trickle of the river. Nature doesn't give up. A good share of hometowncrs spent several days at the Centrum in Cedar City at what else - the basketball tournament. While driving home from a day's work in the LDS St. George Temple and listening lis-tening to the Panguitch-Grcen River game, Steele Henrie had to almost be physically restrained from turning around and driving back to Cedar City hoping to see the end of the game. Stecles only slightly less-excited passengers managed to talk him home. A large number of friends and relatives went to Parowan for the 50th wedding anniversary of the Art Evanses. Other folks were in Cedar City for the funeral services for the month of Jerry Mosdell. Love and sympathy are extended to the Mosdells. Ramona Proctor and Loretta Linford are recovering from hip replacements. Hazel Rich and her sister, Pat Fox, and Dorothy Rowley went to St. George to the LDS Women's Conference and celebrated Hazel's birthday with dinner and visiting with Randy and Nancy Houston. Lorene Hepworth spent a week up north helping out at home of Bobby and Pam Owens during the birth of their baby girl, little McKensie Lorene Owens. Glen and Bonnie Owens went to see the baby and brought Lorene home. Hilda Gardner received the 1991 Citizens Award from Southern South-ern Utah University this past week for outstanding service. Little Mica Draney was given her name and blessing by her father Troy Draney in the LDS First Ward. Clint and Jolene Pollock were called as teachers in the LDS Primary. Shirleen Blais is the new Home and Education Leader in the Relief Society. New Primary officers offi-cers are Jackie Reynolds, Naomi Lish, Jeri Lou Houston and Jan Frandsen. In the Third Ward Bennett and Alfhilde. Josie were called to be president and secretary respectively respective-ly of the Ward Choir. Little Heather Orton was blessed by her father Dale Orton. Heather's local grandparents are the Bob Ortons and Kendall Brinkerhoffs. Baby boy Trac N. Norris was given his name by his father Troy Norris. Merle and Pauline Prince were in Cortez, Colo, for a week caring for the children of Merlene P. Lanier. The Princes then went to Houston, Tex. where they spent three weeks with daughters Julene Irving and Paula Curtis. Gai Wilcock reported a great six-day bus tour to Indio, Calif. She got to visit with grandson Norman Henderson in Yucca Valley. Val-ley. She stayed overnight with Harry and Dee Evans Bauer, St. George. Gai is sporting a new car, so she and Carrie Hatch tried it out by spending a day in Kanab with Alyce Henderson. They and Dayne Wilcock went to Hurricane to see Steven Wilcock sustained as the new Bishop of his LDS Ward. Steven is the son of the Arthur Wilcocks. The three also spent a day in Cedar City and learned that Brad and Debra Davis Slaugh are moving back to Cedar City from Hawaii. Brad has been release from the Air Force. Debra is Gai's granddaughter. ' Sheri Wilcock is recovering from major surgery in St. George. Judi Gai Davis and Tamra Davis, Cedar City, visited here with Gai as did Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Milner who came to bring three children home to Spry. Other visitors at the Wilcock home were the Lynn Evanses and Karl Low-ders, Low-ders, Hatch, and Darol Allred, Washington. |
