Show be Y U ENTRANCE WORK IS RAIS RAISED LW PROVO may atay 22 Ln entrance trance requa requirements at brigham young university are to bo be raised at the beginning of the school year 1927 28 according to a ruling made early this week by the university council ot of that institution beginning with that school year according to the decision made high school students will toe be expected to present IG 16 units ot of credit secured during four our school years or olse else they must be graduates of accredited high schools wo we are issuing the statement now F S harris president ot of brigham young university declared in order that high school students may prepare themselves to enter the university without handicap we have stipulated that tile the credits must be secured during four school years in order to discourage the mad rush some students attempt to make through their educational program we W believe slower and more thorough work Is desir desirable ablo this action however does not prevent young men and young women over twenty one years ot of age from entering the university as special students president harris continued such persons should be encouraged to get into school wherever possible this action la is aimed primarily at regular high school students who ought to finish up their high school work well before entering college A student seeking admission this coming fall as in the past must present evidence in the form of an official transcript of credits that he has completed 15 units of approved high school work or he must pass an examination in a sufficient number ot of subjects to make 15 units the ruling introduced last year will take effect this tall fall it reads that students must offer among their credits three units of 0 english a principal group ot of three or more uni units is and a secondary ot of two or more units the principal group and the secondary group must be selected from either mathematics and science or from history and social s ocia 1 1 science should mathematics and science be offered as the principal group then history and social science should be offered as the secondary group and vice versa |
