Show Panguitch Jews By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 It's good to see two little wild flowers in bloom, the lilies pushing push-ing their green stems through the soil and a "V" formation of ducks flying north. Denny and Jean Orton are home from the north where Denny received re-ceived a clean slate on his last cancer can-cer treatment. Everything looks great. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Roma and Hal Wilcock came from Price, picked up Norma Talbot and Pauline Prince and all went to Cedar City to attend the opera "La Boheme" in which Jim Wilcock played the leading part. Jim is the son of Roma and Hal and grandson of Norma. He is majoring major-ing in Music Education. Jim and wife Barbara Jean Frandsen Duckett were met by family fam-ily members at the Salt Lake airport air-port on Feb. 2. They came from Jim's duty tour in Germany to be with his dad James R. Duckett Dr. of Bull Head City who underwent a serious heart operation in Phoenix. He is doing well now and Jim and Barbara have returned to Germany after visiting with her folks Clark and Gwen Frandsen here. Panguitch 1st Ward held their first 1995 conference. The Stake Officers were in attendance. Bishop Jon Torgerson and Stake president John Yardley were the featured speakers. Shara Blais has received a mission mis-sion call to Macon, Georgia. She is a daughter of Phillip and Shcrlene Blais. Charles and Lorene Hepworth spent a week in Tucson, Ariz, with one of his military service buddies, Don and Donna Brown. Bob and Grace Benfield send their regards to everyone at home. They are spending winter near Phoenix and his dad just celebrated his 103 birthday with them. He is doing very well. Keith and Eloise Tacy wrote us from Overton, Nev. He has had a second surgery on the same leg and is on crutches and doing well. They expect to be home May 1. Since the Tacy's love fishing at the Lake they chuckled at a letter a girl who wrote to a newspaper saying she didn't want to go to "Panguish" Lake for here eighth year as it was a million miles from civilization and her family spends all their days on the lake fishing. We wonder if the family has ever looked around to see what else there is in our area. It might surprise them. Former resident Dave and Millie Bridges are happy to get the Garfield County News at their home in Lebanon, Missouri. It's good to hear from you neighbors. Joan Norton had her folks Laine and Dorothy Norton here from Brigham City. They enjoyed visiting visit-ing family and life-long friends. We are happy to learn that the new Garfield Memorial Long-term Care Center open house is to be this week. Steven Heath Hatch was ordained or-dained a priest in Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward Sacrament Meeting. Inspirational talks were given in the meeting by youth speakers Lisa Williams about being friends and by Scott Walsh on reflections of life. The ward primary sang a special spe-cial musical number. Paula Brindley talked about developing faith, Raymond Roundy talked on how a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ grows. Jill Chidestcr said we need to expect the best of ourselves and others and to tell people that they are good capable people. Congratulations Bobcat basketball basket-ball team on winning 3rd place in State and to the Bobettes drillteam on 1st place. Folks really went all out to support both teams. John Yardley and Brian Foy did a great job reporting the events so that we who were not in attendance could enjoy the action. Thanks, guys! |
