Show Investigation Is Continuing Into Escalante Death PANGUITCH The Feb. 20 death in Escalante of 16-year-old Sherilyn Piquet by rifle shot is still under investigation by the Garfield County Sheriffs Office and has not been ruled accidental. No charges have been filed, however, and no arrest has been made The Escalante High School junior, who was buried Monday, was shot in the chest at the family home, dying almost instantly when a .357 rifle held by her 19-year-old stepbrother Clifton Robinson fired. Parents Kent and Analee Robinson who had just left the residence, returned within minutes as several local Emergency Medical Technicians also arrived on the scene. Sheriff Than Cooper said that a .357 rifle and two bullets, one thought to be the fatal bullet, were sent to the Utah State Crime Lab in Salt Lake City. Cooper said he expects additional information later in the week. In the meantime, he said, he is conducting interviews with several witnesses Garfield County Attorney Wallace Wal-lace Lee declined to add anything to Cooper's report. |
