Show By Nancy S. Twitchell Christmas shopping, present wrapping, goodies baking, and ball games.. .that about covers it for Cannonville residents this week. A few had a slight bit of activity! Rae Hughes' sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Verle Palmer, Page, Ariz, stopped in for a quick hello as they were in Henrieville to visit the gravesite of their daughter during the week of her birthday. Rae and Joe visited with the Palmers for a week, just prior to the loss of their son last month. Golden and Roxanna Johnson received great news this week with the arrival of their third greatgrandchild. great-grandchild. Amy Searles, daughter of Vonita Buttars, Roxanna's oldest daughter, delivered a 7 lb. 3 oz. baby girl in Ogden. The Johnsons have two great-grandsons by Amy's twin sister, Jenny. Patrick Clarke, son of Erma and Jim Clarke, is home from Dixie College for the Christmas holidays and will return after the first of next year. Michael Fletcher, son of Alma and Anita Fletcher, came home for the weekend from Brigham Young University. A double birthday celebration this week was held for brothers Layne and Lloyd Mathews. Mom and dad, Diane and Ben Mathews, took the boys and friend Kyle Johnson John-son to St. George for treats and movies. They split up their group, some going to see the "Addams Family" and the others taking in "Feifel Goes West." Diane Mathews also reported a very worthwhile service project for the LDS Primary this week. They decorated and delivered a number of small trees around the community to bless a lot of families for Christmas. John and Charlotte Mathews went with Dean and Karleen Mclnelly on Wednesday for some fast shopping in SL George. The Cannonville LDS Ward held its annual Christmas party which was a tremendous success. Ham, salads and hot rolls were served and the entertainment for the evening was provided by the sisters of the ward. Betty Wintch wrote a special program entitled "Festival of the Trees" which the ladies presented. Stake Relief Society representatives who attended included Cheri Feltner, president; Kathern Syrett, education edu-cation counselor and Louise Shake-spear, Shake-spear, secretary. Mira Loy Ott and sister Dellis LeFevre from Panguitch traveled up to Richfield to visit brother and sister-in-law Elvin and Rita Sud-weeks. Sud-weeks. Bonnie and Bill Nelson had kids Mark Nelson, June Ann Miller and Jolene Pollock home from Panguitch Pan-guitch on Friday. They came on over to help Mom and Dad decorate and put up the family Christmas tree. Bonnie and Lael Chynoweth worked together to prepare Shanna Goulding's home for her homecoming homecom-ing last Saturday. Lots of birthdays in the Stock family, the latest of which was Arma's son Jeff. The family gathered gath-ered on Saturday, 10 strong, at the home of Gerald and Dawn Stock to celebrate with cake and ice cream. Last week Gretha and Desmond Twitchell spent Thursday through Monday staying with her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Elaine Henderson in the Blooming-ton Blooming-ton area near St. George. They took in all the pretty Christmas lights and enjoyed at Shoney's to celebrate Gretha's birthday. Another brother, Boyd Henderson, was treated to his special birthday dinner din-ner on Sunday. Both Gretha and Desmond enjoyed their normal LDS temple time, a training session and Christmas session for temple ordinance workers only on Monday. |
