Show New Pastor Serving Escalante Baptists ESCALANTE New pastor for the First Baptist Church of Escalante is James Daggit. Well-accustomed Well-accustomed to winter weather, Pastor Pas-tor Daggit and his wife Lois arrived in Escalante in mid-November from Helena, Mont The Daggits have received a warm welcome from church members mem-bers in Escalante and from the community at large. They were both born and reared in Chippewa Falls, Wis. Pastor Daggit recalls his father, who was a farmer, traveling around to the neighboring small towns every Sunday, delivering the gospel message. mes-sage. "But mostly he was a farmer," says Daggit, recalling his early youth. The Daggits were married in 1957, and Jim went into the Navy where he served for nine years. See Escalante Pastor Page 3A Escalante Pastor From Page 1 He attended Baptist Bible College Col-lege in Springfield, Mo. from 1969-1972 and then pastored churches in Superior, Mont, for three year and Genesco, 111. for two years. They moved to Helena for five years where Daggit worked for Coast-to-Coast Hardware and then for Tru-Value Hardware. The Daggits have three daughters, daugh-ters, Mrs. Kelly (Sue) Ralston, Palmdale, Calif.; and Linda and Karen, both Helena. Pastor Daggit enjoys hunting, fishing and traveling and his wife keeps busy with plastic canvas crafts. |
