Whether this means a drop in the general rabbit population or good work on the part of scavenging crows, magpies, eagles and coyotes we don't know but as one stockman pointed out, a drop in rabbits means a bigger loss of lambs to the coyotes. coy-otes. We're grateful for the snow this past week. We don't like to travel in it but we smile at the white hills. The new LDS chapel in the north end of town will go into use on Feb. 20 as the Panguitch LDS 2nd Ward starts their meetings at 9 a.m. and the 3rd Ward at 11 a.m. The 1st Ward will meet in the Stake Center in the south end of town at 10 a.m. Wendell Hatch was brought home from Dixie for burial in his beloved valley. His brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Susan Hatch still live here but come summer, the rest of his brothers and sisters will come home to touch base with their roots and enjoy fishing. One hundred fifty ice fishermen were counted on Panguitch Lake recently. The winter fish are so good. Cassandra Matthews and Michael Foy received their Gospel In Action awards in the Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward. The membership records of the Brent and Janet Lloyd family were received into the 3rd Ward. The Lloyds now own the Panguitch KOA campground. The Cornelia Camp DUP was held at Carol Dodd's home. Carol gave a history of the "Honeymoon Trail." Cholecn Bybce had her mother, Margaret Church Calistcr and aunt Dcanc Church Black here from Delta to tell about their early years in Panguitch. They were granddaughters of Aunt Charlotte (Lot) Church and nieces of Bell Cooper as well as relatives of the Dickinson family. Babies blessed in the Panguitch LDS 1st Ward were Cameron Lloyd LcFevre by Lloyd LeFcvrc; Tyler Cole Brinkcrhoff by Lloyd Brinkerhoff, Caleb Leon Stevenson by Brian Stevenson and Trcven Sara Hcpworth by Monty Edwards. Many family members were here to celebrate these important happenings. happen-ings. Former Panguitchite Nell Hcywood of Cedar City was seen in town. The Bobby Owens family visited vis-ited with the Church Hcpworths and Glen Owens families from the north. Maxine Hcnric was in St. George Ge-orge for two weeks to visit daughter Sunny Konold and attend her granddaughter's wedding. Leola Hcnrie was in Las Vegas to see her father who had surgery. Dorothy Houston went north for a medical check-up and to attend her sister's funeral. Roene Dickinson is recovering from her second knee replacement. The Clark Frandscns have a new grandson. Daughter Shcrrie Frand-sen Frand-sen Shupe has been staying with them for the coming of the baby. Five sisters and brothers will be glad to have mom and the baby home in Kingman, Ariz. Lorctta Linford is home after surgery in a St. George hospital. |
