Kris Swanger Business & Marketing Ed Panguitch High School I 4 Katie Munson Business & Marketing Ed Escalante High School Twenty-One Seniors Compete In Sterling Scholar Competition Twenty-one high school students stu-dents from Garfield County will be among 156 young people representing represent-ing 14 high schools and five school districts competing for awards and honors in the 17th Annual Southwest Utah Sterling Scholar competition. Prior to the awards program, a banquet will be held to honor the Southwest Sterling Scholar Finalists and their parents andor guardians. Emceeing the banquet will be Van Bushnell, assistant provost for vocationaltechnical education ed-ucation at SUU. Each of the 156 finalists will be judged on personal achievements, awards compiled in their portfolios and interviews with the judges. There will be three judges in each category, all from local communities, communi-ties, Dixie College and SUU. A winner and two runners-up in each of the 13 categories will be (See Sterling:. Scholars Will Compete on April 6 on Page 2A) Sterling Scholars From Page 1 announced at the evening program, and each will be given a Sterling Scholar pin. Finalists from each high school will receive an embossed em-bossed Sterling Scholar certificate. Colleges and universities in Utah are offering full tuition scholarships to winners and many are offering half-tuition scholarships scholar-ships to runners-up.
