Show GEOW GEO W STOKES DIED SUNDAY funeral services will be held wednesday afternoon at 2 funeral services for george win stokes who died sunday afternoon at 1220 of paralysis at the family home south first west street in this city will bo be held wednesday afternoon at 2 at the fifth ward chapel under the direction of bishop J A fishburn following the services interment will be in the family plot at the city cemetery mr stokes was stricken with paralysis last october while employed as a guide at duckville Duc kville he has gradually grown weaker until the end came peacefully sunday six years ago he underwent a serious operation for cancer of the throat at denver dr grant performing the operation he had suffered terribly from this affliction which greatly weakened him physically but the operation was apparently success tul ful and gave him great relief mr air stokes was born at perry utah october 15 1870 a son of the late james and ann young stokes he grew to young manhood there receiving his education in the district schools on october 15 1890 on tile the twentieth anniversary of 0 his birth he married miss eliza jensen of this city and since that time has made his home in brigham city he was a cat carpenter penter by trade but during the past fifteen years was employed in the fall arid and early winter as a guide at duckville Duc Duck kville villi he was an elder in the mormon church an honest hardworking hard working man and had many friends in this community surviving are his wire wile four daughters mrs leo johnson mrs airs W L carver mrs leona pruitt and miss fern stokes one son george arthur stokes and 5 grand children all ot of this city surviving also are the following brothers and sisters james i S 1 joseph T 0 seph A cha charles rles and heber stokes mrs airs william dowden bowden and mrs shirley whitaker all of brigham city mrs airs joseph bowden of lewis ton tan 1 mrs edward E stokes of slater ville mrs Joseph Cutler of snowville SnOw ville mrs airs horace South southworth southwort wor th of hazelton I 1 idaho |
