Show ELIAS DIED ED TT LAST ft orji NIGHT pioneer business man succumbs at the dee hospital at ogden elias S jensen age as prominent business man politician and church worker of 0 this city died last evening at from stomach trouble at the dee hospital in ogden mr jensen had been ailing tor for the past four years ile he had been in business ir in this city continuously tor for forty three years having opened a furniture store on south main street in 1882 at the time of the division of p party arty lines in utah mr jensen became identified with the republican party and tor for many years was a leader 0 of his party in box elder county for eight years he was county chairman of 0 the R republican e party served six years as justice of the peace of the dox box elder precinct and served four years yeara a aa county assessor he was also active actie in church work being a staunch member of the mormon church he labored as a teacher in the sunday school Mutu als seventy quorum and was an active ward teacher covering a long period ot of years mr jensen was honest in all his dealings outspoken and when lie he espoused any cause he gave it his full support and his friends always knew where he stood mr air jensen was born january 1 18 1818 IS in elsrode El denmark he came cam to utah in the tall fall of 1869 and tor for a number ot of months worked in the construction st of 0 the U P railroad in weber canyon later he removed to salt lake and came to brigham city in I 1 the fall ot of 1870 having resided here since that time he married amelia hartmann Harl mann august 7 1871 she died in august 1885 he married priscilla smith june 16 surviving are his wife mrs priscilla S jensen and the following sons and daughters IV D kenneth ellal elial and lamont jensen all ajl of brigham city mrs edna harlin ot f ogden mrs vida bridge ot of salt lake city mrs anna hall ot of los angeles calit calif lafayette and nevalle jensen of eli nevada surviving also are 33 grand children 5 great grand children one brother J S jensen ot of salt lake and one sister mrs judith brown of 0 denmark funeral services will be held sunda sunday y afternoon at at the second ward chapel under the direction of bishop N J Ma Vl alentine lentine interment will trill be in the city cemetery |
