Show illlyiA will bi IMmMjI fiiikyLfllllll i Harriet rasKa 826-4810 The rains we are having are making a lot of people smile as gardens and lawn are drinking it in. It is a special blessing to coach Jim Smith out at the high school, where he is supervising numerous student volunteers and Turn About Ranch participants in laying out 18 semi-truck loads of sod on the baseball diamond and adjoining hillside. The work is being supervised by LaMar Feltner and Lincoln Lyman Construction. The funding came drom the school district recreation fund. Jeannctte Braithwaite, Sunset was here all by herself visiting her parents Bill and Dawn Griffin. This is the first time in her nine years of marriage and kids that she has had time off and she really enjoyed it. Bill took her golfing and Dawn took her to a play in G rover. Gil and Ann Kreger suddenly sold their Triple S RV Park right after the 4th of July. The new owners, Clark and Kathryn Barney from Spanish Fork, will be moving in by Aug. 1. The Kregcrs will be footloose and fancy free with their fifth wheel and hope to return to Escalante for their summers. Gil served as building inspector briefly for Escalante City, until the job was taken over by the county and he served as chairman for the planning and zoning committee for over a year. Best wishes and many thanks to you both! Also recently moved from Escalante are Dan and Lisa Dcgrafenreid who taught shop at the high school for two years. They are now living in Heyburn near Rupert, Ida., where Dan is managing a farm. Dan was instrumental in helping to rebuilt the "new" old information building as was Gil Kreger, so the Lions Club needs more hands to finish the job. Congratulations to Roy and Missy Marchant. They are the pround parents of a new baby girl, Mickelle Ann Marchant, who was born July 5, weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and measured 19 12 inches. The new shop teacher, Steve Clay and wife, Lisa, bought the Dcgrafenreid home. They are from Blanding. Sylvia Luker, wife of recently appointed deputy sheriff, Monty Luker, has finally moved here from Salt Lake City with their son, Monty, Jr. who will enroll as a junior this year at Escalante High School. Frank Alvcy and wife, Angie, son of Betty Roundy Alvey, have just moved to Escalante with their infant son. Angie did her student teaching in Hurricane and will teach girls volleyball and basketball as well as English this fall. Frank is currently working with the U.S. Forest Service. Sue Bassctt from Boulder will teach fifth grade this year. Vicki Schulkoski has returned from three weeks away, first in North and South Dakota and then to girl scout camp. Twenty-four college-age cyclists representing "Habitat for Humanity" stopped in Escalante on July 18. They were riding from Washington, D.C. to San Francisco, Calif, telling the story of building affordable Rousing for people in the cities who would not otherwise be able to afford them. An evening barbeque at the city park was hosted by members of the Escalante Baptist Church. |
