Her July 13 column col-umn is immediately followed by this week's column. Hot summer weather finally arrived. ar-rived. It is so good to see the neighborhood children frolicking in the sun as their young spindly legs carry them off to various outdoor adventures. Susan Colclazer spent time in Viriginia visiting relatives during her two-week vacation. She is glad to be back where the daily high temperatures and humidity are not equal, and neither exceed a persons normal body temperature. John Morlock, Clyde Stonaker and Charlie Peterson passed their EMT Intermediate recertification tests with high scores. The Dennis Brookie family spent the weekend at Lake Powell trying out Dennis' new and high tech mono ski board. The Kirby Matthew family took their boat out for a relaxing day of fishing. No report on the success of the trip. The TWR Services reunion was a popular and successful affair. There have been many changes over the years in the overall tone of service ser-vice at the lodge. The buildings are as special as ever and the people that manage the lodge are as friendly as ever, but the present day customer's expectation are quite different. dif-ferent. It is interesting to listen to past staff talk about their life while working at the lodge. Historically, it is quite important to have this information in-formation recorded. Beth Bridgers and Bobbie Bloodworth spent time at a fire in Parowan Canyon doing mop up work. Richard Bryant spent two weeks in Alaska visiting friends Hopefully, he took lots of pictures to share with his Bryce Canyon friends. The Ranger Division perma-nents perma-nents and office mate Cheryl Schreicr hosted an "Appreciation" barbecue for the seasonals and VIP's. They are the backbone of the park. The cookout was great fun. The weather cooperated, the food was delicious and the company was fantastic. A perfect combination combina-tion for a perfect day. It must be July because fiddie music is being heard and enjoyed on the Bryce Canyon Lodge patio. The Old Time Fiddlers are giving their annual free nightly concerts for a few evenings. Their talented group consists of all ages. It is toe tapping, hand clapping music. Eddie Berkell is the new interpretive Student Conservation Aid at Bryce Canyon. He will be working at the front desk and giving walks and talks during his three month stay. The SCA is a program that allows students and others the opportunity to work in national parks. Paving should begin on the Rainbow road this week. The asphalt batch plant has been set up and the paving crew is ready to begin work. Greg Richards brought the rangers delicious cherries from Capitol Reef. They were quickly devoured at the ranger barbecue. Quite a few of the neighborhood children are taking swimming lessons in Panguitch. The bus pick up and delivery service allows children to participate in this important program. |
