Show By Marta Peterson 834-5306 The official calendar date of the first day of summer has arrived. The warm days, abundant flowering plants and increased visitation are all true indicators of summer. Mary Stonaker and Donna Mitsch co-hosted a baby shower for Susan Shoemaker. The only sad part of Susan's party was the knowledge that she was moving to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area before baby Shoemaker is born. Murray and Susan are heading head-ing for Dangling Rope, a remote area of Glen Canyon accessible only by boat, later this month. They will be missed, but Murray's new job in interpretation is a career advancement decision. The entire staff of Bryce Canyon participated in an orientation day this month. The purpose of this annual event is to allow each division chief the opportunity to talk with the staff in the field. The sessions give the park crew a better understanding of the mission of each division. Thomas and Melody Richards arc now driving to work in style in their new Suburban. A combined "Welcome and Good-Bye" pizza party was recently held at Tropic Town Park. The welcome part of the party was dedicated to Lynn Sagers, maintenance worker and Robyn Burch, pcrsonnclist and the goodbye good-bye portion of the festivities was aimed at Murray Shoemaker, former receptionist and now district interpreter at Glen Canyon. |
