Show By Mamie Talbot The beautiful, wet snow storm came just at the right time, when folks were beginning to get uneasy about watering their dry lawns. Many backyards in town have to depend on summer storms. It will be well if just the front lawns, bushes and trees can be kept alive. The City beautification committee led by Elaine Baldwin is bravely going forward to lead us in improving im-proving our surroundings inspitc of the handicaps of low water and Main Street being torn up. Looks like it's time for more volunteering volunteer-ing and hard work to improve other areas, so that when the great addition of storm drains, water lines and resurfacing is finished, we can really be proud of the improvements im-provements all over town. As we all know, "It's often necessary to get into a mess in order to get out of a worse one." The Jay and George Proctors plus a niece and nephew from Cedar City, spent several days touring the interesting Indian reservations in northern Arizona. They rested at Lee's Ferry and the Grand Falls on the Little Colorado Color-ado River and were impressed at the country they traveled through. Myrtle Heywood went to the Dixie area where her brother Bud Branham, Hurricane, had a serious stroke. Karran Harris is back at her beauty shop after surgery on her hands. Ray and Caryl Englestead were here from their Arizona retreat. Caryl met with the high school senior girls in a special get-together and told them "There is a life after high school." Folks here are proud of Virginia Virgi-nia Bruhn Higbce, Cedar City, on her promotion in the Family Services Ser-vices Department. Ray Barnes suffered a badly injured in-jured hand while helping Bruce Fullmer with a trailer load of hay. Ray has worked so hard at his job on the city council where he is responsible res-ponsible for the city buildings, some of which are in bad shape. He has recently been cleaning out float decorations and other junk from the wet basement of the public pub-lic library and helping volunteers move discarded books to the social hall for a book sale. Seems like most folks who have moved here to retire haven't retired at all but have brought their know-how know-how and energy and pitched in to help make a difference in the town. It is greatly appreciated, friends. Bill Breinholt underwent bypass by-pass heart surgery in a northern hospital. The Panguitch LDS First Ward reports Jake LeFevre was baptized by his father Jerry LeFevre. From the Second Ward, Nathan Houston, son of the John Houstons was baptized bap-tized by Frank Houston.
