Show Tropic Youth Represents Utah 4-H TROPIC Bryce Valley Junior Ju-nior Bryant Shakespear has returned re-turned from a trip to Washington D. C. where he participated in the Annual National 4-H Conference. Shakespear was one of seven youths chosen from the state of Utah to attend and was selected from among 28 applicants statewide. The policy of sending 4-H's to National 4-H Conference was established in 1987. The youths are chosen on the basis of their 4-H work, community service, and an interview. The conference was conducted con-ducted through the leadership of the Extension Service, U. S. Department De-partment of Agriculture, in cooperation coop-eration with State Land Grant Colleges and Universities and the National 4-H council. The overall purpose of the conference con-ference was to provide meaningful involvement of representative groups of 4-H participants in program pro-gram development at the National level. Bryant was assigned to participate par-ticipate in the consulting group "Youth Service" which addressed what 4-H should do to help develop service programs to provide pro-vide opportunities for youth in local lo-cal communities and the identification identifica-tion of the challenges and benefits to youth which come from such involvement. in-volvement.
