Show BRIGHAM HOST YESTERDAY TO OFFICERS OF UTAH AND IDAHO KIWANIS international DISTRICT local service club scores triumph in entertainment of mid winter trustees conference dance at commercial club last night C concludes 0 ni interesting program notables arese prese present n the midwinter mid winter conference of 0 trus teea lees from the utah idaho district ot of kiwanis international closed its 1926 session here last evening voting the kiwanis club ot of brigham city royal entertainers no less than fifty kl from out of 0 town attended attend the sessions which were held in the commodious quarters ot of the box elder commercial club and chamber p of commerce the conference was opened wednesday evening with the arrival ot of J B gowen cowen district governor of 0 caldwell idaho who presided at the informal meeting of district officers and the executive committee wednesday evening and throughout the program yesterday the visitors and members of the local kiwanis club joined in a luncheon yesterday at noon served by the presbyterian by terian terlan ladies aid society in the new club rooms in the first national bank building the luncheon was presided over by james E halverson past president as toastmaster roy holverson supplied pleasing violin numbers accompanied by miss aliss clara wat hins alna the final event of 0 the entertainment program was a banquet served at 7 last evening at this same place concluding with dancing in the club rooms which continued until a late hour wives of local kiwan ians and a number of young ladies attended this affair leroy B young past president was toastmaster at the evening banquet feature numbers on the program being instrumental and vocal selections by misses dorothy and willa baker and a vocal duet by mrs connie M peters and miss clara watkins the principal address was wag delivered by tom marshall who was here especially from rom the headquarters headquarter i ot of kiwanis international at chicago there were also a number of extemporaneous talks the committee from the local club in charge of 0 arrangements consisted of 0 the organization directors but all the members of the club contributed their time and effort toward making the entertainment program the success that it was and in entertaining the visitors in brigham city many of whom were here for the first time clyde 13 stratford ot of this city was honored by the district governor by being named chairman of the district committee on oil attendance and leroy leroy B young was chosen a member of the district committee on public affairs at the business session chich aich open ed at yesterday morning an invocation was offered by rev C E fowler presbyterian pastor the address of welcome was given by the local president john al burt which brought response from the lieutenant governor of 0 the utah north district 11 B D aven of 0 bingham canyon and juneau shinn ot of filer idaho of the west idaho division A variety ot of kiwanis subjects were taken up and disc discussed used by authorities some ot of those making addresses being J E edgarton Ed garlon of 0 pocatello idaho past district governor and at present a member af of the international c co ommittee m on attendance contest content alfred al durham logan chairman of the international committee on oil music farrell johnson logan district dis trist secretary who gave the annual financial report jean bistline pocatello past district secretary robert na N young salt lake member of the international committee on good will and grievance and others plans were perfected for the holding of the next annual utah idaho district convention at logan logaa in august of this year A committee headed by roy west of that city was named to handle the details the members of the additional committees were not all chosen last evening |
