Panguitch News Mamie Talbot A skinny blanket of snow has arrived in the valley. It looks more like Christmas weather. The Bill Slacks held Christmas open house to share their lovely decorations and creative hobbies with friends. The Slacks have gone to Tucson, Ariz., and South Carolina Car-olina to visit their kids. The Arnold Keowns will spend the holiday in California with their families. Former hometowner Bob Webb died of emphysema in Hesperia, Calif., and was buried there. Father Joseph Valene will be in town to hold Christmas mass at the Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. George Middleton spent time in town with Madeline's mother Velma Barney and other relatives. The LDS mission farewell for Jim and Evelyn Henrie was held Dec. 18. Here to wish the new missionaries well were former Panguitchites the Russell Henrie family; former Houston girls, Reva Orton, St. George, and Barbara Mitchell, Cedar City; the Doyle Ipsons, Richard Tebbses, and Ron Englesteads, Cedar City; and the George Dodds, Calif. The Henries will serve in the Austria-Vienna East LDS Mission on the island of Cyprus. The Senior Citizens and the Third Ward LDS Relief Society parties were well attended. The LDS Fourth-Ward Choir Christmas program will be presented on Christmas Day, at 2 p.m. in the Stake Center. It will be the only ward services held that day. Everyone is invited to come out to enjoy it. Dolly Henrie and Neucile Hcnire went to Kanab on business. Suzie Soper has opened her "Hair Affair" shop in the long ago Don Robinson's shoe shop location on Main Street. She has retained one wall of the old native brick which is an attraction in the well-decorated well-decorated shop. The Phil Dickensons returned from a trip to Seattle where they visited with the Harry and Rolane Dickenson Gardner family. The other grandma, Hilda Gardner, left to spend Christmas in Seattle after visiting in California with her ill sister Mary Foy VanSanL Maxine Henrie, Emma Ahlstrom and Merle Prince are all home after surgery in various hospitals hos-pitals and are doing well. |
