Show Funds Raised For Wayne Co. Sheriff TORREY Funds are currently cur-rently being raised to help newly-seated newly-seated Wayne County Sheriff Don Torgerson, who was stricken with a massive heart attack on Wednesday, July 12. He was flown by Life Flight to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he remains in critical condition. Efforts are currently underway to help pay for the enormous cost of treatment, which is some $350,000 for a heart transplant. Until the heart transplant can be completed, Torgerson is surviving on an implanted Heart-Mate unit which will sustain him until the transplant occurs. "His relatives have put up all their property to raise as much money as they can for the operation, but more is needed," said Randy Austin, Torrcy. Austin is one of the co-chairman of Don Torgerson Day, which was organized in the Wayne County area to raise funds for the sheriff. Austin, along with the Wayne County Commissioners and Vickie Taft, Wayne County Emergency Medical Service director, they have worked on coodinating the project, which was held last Saturday. Many other activities are planned in the future for the benefit of the sheriff.
