Show Open House Slated To Welcome Pastor ESCALANTE An open house will be held Saturday, June 23 from 7 until 9 p.m. where Rev. Milton Carr, the new pastor of the First Baptist Church of Escalante, has moved into the parsonage at 300 East with his wife and family. Pastor Carr, a native of Tennessee, is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He is the assistant director of Northwest Baptist Missions, an organization whose chief purpose is establishing independent, fundamental Baptist churches in areas where there are none. Pastor Carr has started churches in Lander, Wyo. and Castle Dale, Utah and is a co-founder of the First Baptist Church of Escalante. His wife, Mary, is a native of new Brunswick, Canada and a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute. In addition to being an accomplished musician and piano teacher, she is also an interpreter for the deaf. Joy, the eldest daughter, is a sophomore at Bob Jones University. In addition to interpreting for the Rev. Milton Carr deaf, she also plays piano, acc-cordian and clarient. She is employed with the Forest Service for the summer. Daughter Linda is a senior in high school and she, too, is an interpreter for the deaf and plays piano, flute, and piccolo. Son John is in the eighth grade and plays trombone and son David is in the fourth grade and plays piano. Pastor Carr said that he and his family like Escalante and are eager to get acquainted with their neighbors. He welcomes everyone to the open house on Saturday evening. |
