Show Garkane Calls For Vote on Possible Headquarters Site Orderville has been selected as the site for members of Garkane Power Assn. to vote on as headquarters of the ilrm if the headquarters office is moved from Richfield. This was determined by the cooperative's board of directors at its last meeting. Mail voting on the proposal will be held near the end of August In the meantime, a letter will be sent to non-member consumers asking them to become members of the association to allow them voting rights. A cost-estimate will be determined for constructing a new office in Orderville, with the total cost to be paid through a monthly sur- 1 charge on all customer bills over a two year period. Garkane officials said the costs must be amortized in this manner because Rural Electrification Administration will not loan funds anymore for construction of headquarters facilities. ' The company headquarters has been in Richfield since it was organized, but efforts by various consumer groups have attempted, over the years, to have the headquarters moved to a community which is served by the firm. This is the first time members will have voted on an association-wide basis on a specific location for the office if it should be moved from Richfield. |
