Show Hoping to clarify directions and simplify fravel on U.S., Highway 89 at the intersection of Main and Center in Panguitch, Ulah Department of Transpor- I UDOT Installing New Intersection Sign New signing of the intersection of Center and Main Street in Panguitch is being erected by the Utah Department of Transportation. Overhead signs on steel cables similar to the signing in Richfield tatlon cres begin to dig holes for installation of steel poles for overhead signing. Supporting cablei will be placed in two weeks. i) and Salina is planned for the intersection at which U.S. Highway 89 makes a 90-degree turn from north-south to east-west. Howard Richardson, UDOT District Three Director in Richfield said that the "key" intersection has needed clearer signing for some time because of the confusing turn. He said many are missing the turn altogether. Travelers going south on U.S. 89 who miss the turn and continue south on the county road encounter a sign just a few blocks south which informs them "This is NOT U.S. 89." Project work began this week according to Richardson at a cost of about $2,000 to be completed in approximately three weeks. UDOT contracted with Garkane Power Association to use their manpower and equipment, a large auger to dig the four holes needed to pour cement and plant the poles to support the steel cables. The holes were drilled and the steel poles will be placed in cement and the cement allowed to cure for about two weeks before the cables are strung. Signs will be removed from the middle island and another road crew will come in later to remove the island completely, facilitating turning for large trucks at the intersection. Information on the signs will bo essentially the same as currently indicated on signs but will include better information about Panguitch Lake. |
