Show John Yardley to Be Foundation Speaker Featured speaker at this year's annual Garfield Memorial Health Care Foundation dinner on January 7 will be John Yardley. Yardley who serves as county Justice of the Peace and is a Panguitch businessman is probably best known for his sportscasting and sportswriting, a hobby that continues to grow, Yardley says, somewhat mysteriously, that his topic for the evening will be "Time." Yardley, who has served for the past six years as county JP was only last year released as an LDS bishop. In May he was named president of the Utah State Justice of the Peace Association, the first time any southern Utahn has held the post. As president, one of his responsibilities will be to organize and coordinate the next JP training seminar offered in conjunction with the Utah League of Cities and Towns. Reservations were coming in this week for the Foundation Dinner which will be held at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center with the deadline for reservations Wednesday, January 4. Invitations were sent out just before Christmas inviting everyone to lend support for the event which promises to be one of the year's finest. Health care supporters county wide were urged to "save a little for county health care" during the busy holiday giving season. Anyone not receiving an invitation can participate simply by calling for information at 676-811. A $15 donation entitles the donor to dinner and contributes to the foundation's effort to financially assist the hospital and clinics in Garfield County. The foundation has both long range major projects and short-range goals to help enhance health care in the area. Participants can look forward to a fine evening's entertainment with special music by Julie Benton and many prizes, donated by health (Continued on Page 4) Jt1 oundation Dinner (Continued from Page 1) supporters countywide to be given away. The evening has become a tradition in Garfield County, with many former residents, physicians and hospital administrators returning "home" for the event. Those unable to attend the dinner are reminded that their donation will be greatly appreciated and still foster the goals of the Foundation and its hardworking volunteers. Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 7 p.m. with dinner following. County residents are reminded that reservations must be made by January 4. |
