Last year's Miss Garfield County, Brenda Ramsay, returned this week from Miss Utah competition in Salt Lake City. Breathless and excited after a week-long whirl of contest activities, she acknowledged readily that it was "the most exciting week of my life." From Monday's "meet the press" session which she found "scary", things were a constant buzz of activitiy daily throughout the week from 7 a.m. each day until well after midnight each L night- After the first day, she said, she began to "settle down and just enjoy everything" and not worry so much.' Mostly it was work but a special kind of work, she said. They practiced together on production numbers and on Friday were treated to a ride on the "Heber Creeper" from Heber to Bridal Veil Falls. Saturday's daytime events included a parade in which contestants in their evening gowns were each driven in the parade in an antique auto to match her gown. Saturday evening's final activities were almost anti-climatic after such a full week. If anyone asks Brenda Ramsay what she thinks about participating in the Miss Garfield County contest, she'll say, "It led me into the most challenging experience of my life, and every minute was worth it. If anyone in Garfield County is having second thoughts about participating, she urged them to get in touch with her. She said, "Just tell them to call me. I'll convince them to participate." |
