Show " " Halloween Programs Slated in Garfield Once again the Bryce Valley Parent, Teacher, Student Association will kick off the year with its annual Halloween Carnival fundraiser. Festivities will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday with costume judging in grades pre-school through fifth grade. Mothers are invited to arrive as early as 12:30 p.m. to assist their little ghosts and goblins with make-up but all students must be dressed and in their classrooms promptly at 1 p.m. or they will not be judged in the contest, Mothers with preschoolers are directed to the main gym to assemble their excited entrants. Judging will be conducted by Ella Adair, John Reese and Dowanna Williams and will again include four categories: costumes which are the funniest, scariest, most Halloweenish and most original. Each grade will receive four prize ribbons, one in each category for that grade level. In addition, each student who participates by dressing up for the Halloween activities will receive two free tickets to be used at the games or bake sale booths. Booths this year will include a fish pond, treasurer chest, goldfish bowl, ping pong toss, pie toss, wet sponge toss, saucer lagoon, dart toss, baseball throw, apple bob, big game hunt, clown toss and a special spook alley put on by the student council. Each grade in the Bryce Valley Schools has been assigned items for the bake sale and in addition there will be both scones and chili for sale this year. A cake walk is also slated if mothers will please remember to also bake a special entry for this event. PANGUITCH ELEMENT AnY Kindergarten, first and second graders at Panguitch Elementary will celebrate Halloween with classroom parties on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. The third, fourth and fifth graders will wear costumes to school where the fourth and fifth graders will entertain the third garders with a spook alley. Room 'mothers and teachers are sponsoring this year's Halloween celebration which has been sacaled-down somewhat because the annual "spook day" falls on Saturday instead of a regular school day. PANGUITCH MIDDLE SCHOOL Festivities will start at 6 p.m. at Panguitch Middle School Friday evening where sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will see a guaranteed scary movie followed by refreshments and lots of exciting games. Costumes are in order and a prize will be awarded for the best costume. Apple-d.ucking, cider-lapping, relays and other active games promise an evening filled with fun and excitement for all young goblins. The event is sponsored by the Panguitch-Hatch PTA with a special surprise promised. ESCALANTE ELEMENTARY Escalante Elemen-tary's Halloween carnival starts at 6 p.m. Friday with judging of costumes leading the parade of activities. Sloppy-Jones, potato chips and beverages will be sold in the principal fund-raising event of the year. Funds earned last year were used to purchase a small slide for the younger children. Tickets for the games of skill will be sold at 12 for $1 with prizes for every contestant. The carnival is sponsored by the Escalante Elementary PTA. Joyce Woolsey is president. |
