Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair Brothers, sisters and children of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Wintch honored them with a dinner party April 13 to celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary at their home in Tropic. Ora and Donna Brinkerhoff visited the LaMar Shakespear family in Zion National Park. Many out-of-town relatives and friends attended the wedding reception for Bill and Laurie Eddy Saturday night in the Tropic Ward cultural hall. Chance Stewart, small son of the Max Stewarts, received severe burns on his feet and legs when he stepped into hot ashes from burned weeds and limbs. Angelyn Mechams family had a dinner birthday party for her on April 12. Cheri Syrett and Amber Brinkerhoff were baptized and confirmed members of the LDS Church Saturday. Keela Mangum made a trip to Salt Lake City taking her father and mother with her. The Ray Littlef ields visited Renone and family in Cedar City and attended a production of "Because of Elizabeth." LaRue Mecham spent the weekend in Tropic. Barbara Mecham is a patient in Panguitch hospital. Students from Southern Utah State College presented an outstanding musical program in Tropic. Ivan Clarke and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Evans visited the Lester Clarkes. Nellie Rae Mecham enjoyed a visit from her parents. Spring is in the air . . . so was the smoke Monday, as the Tropic residents took advantage of the beautiful day and cleaned their yards, hauled off trash, and a few even planted seeds in their gardens. We were happy to hear Laraine Barton was a runner-up in the recent Sterling Scholar competition held at St. George. We were also very proud of our music department students. Keela Mangum took her mother, two of her sisters, and Ruth Baugh to Orderville April 11 to enjoy a Mexican dinner. It was her mother's birthday. The Doug Talbots also made a trip there to help their son celebrate his birthday on Sunday. The Tropic Ward MIA enjoyed a cook-out,. Peter Jenkins has completed his student : teaching and has : returned to his home. E Nyle Rirhard was visited by Mary and : family, Stan Ott is busy getting E the foundation ready for E his new home. The memberships for Pam and Warren Myers E were received in the ward E Sunday. E Alton and Louie : Shakespear attended a I missionary reunion in Salt Lake City, E Mrs. Helen Cloe and E Nancy Jean Jenkins from Las Vegas, Nev. visited the Angle family at Pink Cliffs. Stake, conference will be held next Sunday. No meetings will be held in the ward. A missionary dinner for Margaret Mecham will be held April 23 at 6:30 p.m. All friends are invited to attend. The Obie Shakespears have a new grandson born to their daughter Elna and husband. The Loral Bartons also have a new grandson born to their daughter Michele and Fred Torres in Cedar City. Both babies were born on April 11, Eve Dean Francisco enjoyed a visit from Kent and Phyllis Webster. Nellie Mecham was released as the Blazer A. teacher and Scott Barton will take her place. Margie Mecham was sustained as the C.T.R.D. teacher in Primary. A special musical number was given by Verlan Munson, Judy Chynoweth, Karen Ott, Gwen Brinkerhoff, Cheri Feltner and Catherine Littlefield, accompanied by Luanna Riddle Sunday in church. Speakers were Anita Heaton and Becky Atkinson. |
