Patten is in his second week now of working with Garfield County youth in experiencing the joy of learning through the use of water- i Art Enrichment Is Theme of Program Elementary students in Panguitch are participating in an enrichment program designed to encourage their interest in art. Garfield County School Dsitrict has cooperated with the Utah Arts Council to bring professional artist Benton P. Patten to Panguitch for two weeks under the Utah Arts Council's "Artists in Schools" program. Dr. Patten is visiting each elementary classroom four times to introduce students to various water color techniques. He stated that he is impressed with the degree to which the youngsters have been able to grasp the principles he has been teaching them. colors. On Wednesday evening Dr. Patten held a "gallery talk" for the public where strategics for understanding all forms of art media were discussed, with the focus on painting. A critique session for all interested Garfield county artists will be held March 27 at 7 p.m. at Panguitch elementary school. The forum will be open to all artists and would-be artists in the area and is planned to encourage and , assist them in their efforts in a positive way. Dr. Patten will be discussing various media. Those working in oils, water colors, pencil drawings or any other art form are invited to attend. |
